Well, I went to Vanguard last night for the first time since Sept 2007. It was ridiculously packed inside and in the smoking patio from the moment I got there, at 10:30pm. It was so packed, that there was no room on the dance floor, and barely even any room on the sides of the stage. Even BEHIND the stage was packed, lol. They wouldn't let people up and down the stairs to the smoking patio... they made people walk all the way up and down the huge stairs on the side of the building.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to hear as much of their sets as I wanted to. What I heard of deadmau5 was actually pretty damn GOOD. A lot better than what I expected. A LOTTTTT better than his set @ Circus in December. JZ played good too from what I heard. It was so uncomfortably packed, so I couldn't stay inside most of the time to listen to it! :(

It was packed like sardines till the very end, at 5am.

This was about the 10th time or so I have seen JZ. Was definetly one of the worst shows. He just doesn't do it for me anymore. He has moved away from what I fell in love with his music. Where was the scratching and all the amazing effects. At least it was like renuion there. All in all won't go back to Vangaurd probably for another 8 months.

He plays differently now a days. His older sets were full with effects tweeks samples loops etc etc. My buddy saw him at Belo the night before and said his set there was a bit more like his older style.

But now he kind of mainstreamed out with the selection he plays and shied away from the effects.

I guess he's aiming for that mass appeal...
