I don't see why it's necessarily selfish. People are certainly capable of having kids for very selfish reasons...

actually, having kids is rather very SELF-LESS act. Considering how much time parenting consumes, being a parent is VERY VERY VERY SELFLESS ACT, even if children are for your own amusement. At least being a good parent requires a great deal of being rather selfless.

People who say parenting is a selfish act NEVER HAD KIDS OR ARE ING RETARDS.

I didn't say that it's usually or always a selfish act. I said that some people have kids for selfish reasons.

you cannot imagine the feeling of having a daughter. I have a boy and a girl. I almost feel awful for feeling this way but I frequently question my fairness as a parent... because the feelings I have for my baby girl is completely different than I have for my son. It just can't compare. It definitely exposes the side of you you never knew existed. It can change your worst mood to a total bliss just by holding this little wonder in your hands and pray that she stays just like this for all your life. My baby is 8 months old but she's my reason to live. My boy is also just as dear to me and I love him to death but the love I feel for him is completely different.

dude, lighten' up on yourself. You were talking in 3rd person, so was I. Chillax brah. If I had something to say about you - I'd address you directly. Maybe it is time to have that drink? Besides, seems like many ppl are a bit under mood today. myself included.

I've always known I wanted kids, but was thinking probably late 20's and early 30s. Like a lot of people, I would like to have at least one and be married before I'm 30 but you never know these days. Not keen on having kids in my 40s as that's just too late.

I've also always felt that starting a family is pretty much the pinnacle you can reach in life, which is why I find it so surprising that some people never want to have kids. Fair enough I mean, each to their own but what is there to live for then?

don't get married. or sign a pre-nup. divorce in US ing sucks. Actually, anywhere it sucks. but in US it's extra sucky.

I'm a Croat. We tend to have a much higher rate of success in my culture than in western cultures, so no problems there.

I'm sure I'll end up bitching about marriage just like every other guy when I'm older, but it's an endless cycle that we're all meant to repeat in the end :stongue:

Well I'm already married (to a TA actually) lol We just don't want kids right now. We still want to travel and stuff beforehand. Plus we got a dog which is close enough to a child right now! :haha:
