Recording audio into Cubase SX3

Hi guys,
Im wondering if you can help -
I have recently bought a Behringer mixer - it has 16 channels, and I would like to record a friends guitar into Cubase.
Seeing as I have never done this before, please could someone advise how it is done?
Can it actually be recorded straight into Cubase or do I have to use Soundforge or any other recording software.
The idea is that I record the guitar, and then I create a track around it.
Hope someone can help - I have tried reading the manual, but I cant seem to find what I am looking for - unless I am really dumb!!

| Just connect the guitar to the mixer then connect the mixer to your soundcard. Select an audio channel & hit record, it's as easy as that. |

Nothing is ever as simple as that with me!
My behringer mixer IS my soundcard. It is connected via USB to my PC, and everything sounds great - but it doesnt seem to record any audio back into Cubase. There is an output going from my mixer into the USB interface - but it records no sound.
Anyone else? :conf:

Yeay,.. first post on TA, here go's:
I had sort of the same problem. I guess you'll have an electric guitar. The (audio)signal that is comming from you guitar is very low. Most likely you have to put an amplifier between.
If you audio signal is low, you can try to put an software amplifier (like guitarrig 3) on your audio channel and boost up the volume. But you have to watch out, in this way you will increase to signal-to-noise ratio and you audiorecording will be heavy 'noised'. So don't just turn the volume way up.
You can also try to create an audio track in Cubase with the input selected where you have your guitar connected. Make sure that you select the audio track and click on the grey little speaker (turns brown when clicked on) this will allow you to 'preview' the audio signal.
What you can also do is - if you have a synthesizer - let the guitar signal go thru the synths line input. On the synth there most likely is an amplifier that let you boost the sound from your guitar. I do this with my Supernova, coolest of all is, you can use the effects from your synth on your guitar.
