In Finland it's ~1.40€/liter = $2.17 = $8.21/gallon. So it's 2-3 times cheaper there, and you complain. But I guess you also have bigger engines who drink more gas over there. |
Well you know, finland is a silly country anyway... |

Cia funded and armed him. OT: You can thank american oil companies for the initial price, and your government for adding 70+ % taxes on top. Thanks america, everytime they raise conflicts in orient, petrol prices go up. Much to their benefit  |
dont bitch about gas taxes, they pay for your roads. Trust me, roads are horrendously expensive (especially in the US with your portland cement pavements)
by current market value, 1 Km ( a little more than half a mile) of two lane road costs about 3.6 to 7.7 million dollars depending on the region in north america. Everytime gas prices go up, the cost of asphalt cement goes up alot more. PGAC (performance graded asphalt cement) requires alot more processing than gasoline does and it also includes alot of chemical modifying agents (especially in canaduh due to our fridgid weather).
The cost of environmental restrictions and "carbon credits" is driving up the cost of portland cememnt as well. (all of you tree hugging hippies that think concrete homes are more environmentally friendly than wood homes sit down and prepare for your whole illusion to come crashing down) The manufacture of portland cement accounts for an estimated 8% to 10% of global CO2 emmisions. Its about 1 tonne of CO2 for every tonne of cement produced.
*edit* another interesting fact is that 2% of all energy used on the planet each year goes into the production of portland cement. |
