D/l files from irc

People always talk about d/ling from irc. I would like to know how the hell you do this since I have no idea.
Anyone got a good tutorial site on this? |

From my year or so expeience with irc you dont actually download from it. There is something called DCC on mirc. it means that people can send you stuff, basically like a peer to peer program. Or they post up links on irc for us to download. But you dont actually download off irc. Just the people on there :)

Well speak in irc
server: irc.webchat.org
channel: #tranceaddict
Dcc is a button at the top, u enter the person username and the file u wanna send and click send. If you settings r correct. File, options, dcc you should have auto accept on and it all setup right. And then people can send away, usual the person who is going to tell you if they r going to send you sommit will tlak you through it :) |

you get the info on IRC where you can download the stuff (mostly FTP). And its not like you go into a channel and D/L stuff.
Its all about connections ;) |

| theres also a thing call /fserve where u use mirc as an ftp client and use ddc as the transfer method using dos style commands, but im still to get lucky on that :( |

everytime i enter that address, i can't connect to it, it says
'You're not on a channel'

as for Dling from IRC....you join channels, and depending on that channel you can download stuff...
But, if you don't have 'connections' or if you havn't established yourself well on a certain channel, it's really hard to get anything cuz of the traffic... (ex. when downloading videos)
I don't have any 'connections' :p
but i do eventually get some files....

Yeah well I managed to connect to the channel and the there's some message at the bottom of my window saying:
***Now talking in #tranceaddict
What do I do after this ? |

LOL, you wish.
Its not that easy my friend. They don't just give stuff to people they don't know. Do some netwerking first, get to know people & then ask for stuff.
P.S. @ webchat is hardly any filesharing, all mp3 release groups are on EFnet ;) |
