Waldorf Blofeld - Anybody here have one yet?

Hey addicts - any of you folks get your hands on one of the few Blofelds from the first release? I'm thinking about pre-ordering one, but I'd like to get some input from people who have actually been using it. How's the editing on it - are the menus deep and is it pretty quick to get around, or is it a PITA? Sound-wise, how does it compare to the Q and/or Microwave? Any other info - good, bad, or otherwise - would be much appreciated.

I'll be anxiously awaiting your review! :) The Waldorf website mentions that the synth is editable/programmable from the computer via USB - I'm very interested to know how accessible the internal parameters are and how well the software/GUI is implemented. If it's anything like the Virus TI's VC (in terms of synth program-ability) or the Nord Modulars, then buying it will be a no-brainer for me.

palm - ouch! Sorry to hear about that. The good news is that the MicroQ is a pretty kicka$$ synth!

yeah i just hope to hear the blofeld isnt as strong in the sound :) im superhappy with it, tho i miss the usb/editing option. sounddivers over midi are abit troubley imo.

i haven't used one, but i think the poor interface pretty much would ruin the deal for me - you might as well just use a softsynth, it is probably easier heh.

access virus ti snow.... impressive.

blofeld... not as impressive.

That said, I'll be buying Omnisphere when it's released.

I've tried it for an hour or so at the shop today. I was supposed to do so this week with a friend but unfortunately (for me) he has some WMC gigs in Miami. Anyway, the Blofeld is the simplest hands on synth I've seen thus far. The parameters are easily accessible and very clear. It's sound is pretty versatile and strong. For those with little hands on experience and/or little knowledge of synthesis this might by a good synth to try out. It will def provide some insight in how it all works and comes together. The parameter lay-out is very well thought through and intuitive. I'm convinced, and I'll buy it soon.

The shop guy also said they're likely to release a controller vst soon such as the virus TI has. Up till then this synth is controllable by USB or midi cable. Audio streams are not sent over USB, you will need seperate inputs on your soundcard for this one.

With a price of 400Euro it's priced super competitive and it really amazed me what you get for that kind of money. I love it.

edit:I'd be amazed if the TI snow's interface would be about as easy. I doubt it will be. By the looks of it it just can't be.
