| I know some commercial DJ's better than David like Erick Morillo. He play commercial for real, but it's good 2 times a year to hear him. |

ugh solo parties!!.. why dont you go to a concert that starts at 9pm while you're at it???
serious, they MUST bring back the Swirl 2001 lineup that never happend (or Cream 2001) .. no fillers, no MSGs, just QUALITY and **VARIETY!!** all night. seriously.. that's what makes a good party, no warmup DJs that take up half the night (ppl, midnight to 3am is still PRIME partying time..) , and no EJ's (XL) in the morning.. all that is bull and I dont like bull

Cream 2001, what a party, and what a lineup that was! I think musicaly that was one of the best parties, difersive and a bit of everything for everyone. |

I agree that he is commercial.. That is why he is not among my favorite DJs.. but for some reason, I enjoyed his set. He did some great technical things, he is actually fun to watch (a great showman), and I felt like listening to club and house anthems that night and he gave it to us. So I wasnt dissapointed!!!
Plus it was NYE.. It is hard to big a HUGE DJ with our weak dollar and us being in Montreal... |
sorry but calling David a showman is ridiculous.
not to mention mixing shirtless (has nothing to do with it but adds to it)
6 hours of torture atelebration was not fair, and XL even added his 4hours set, its was lame. I dont think anyone would pay that amount if it wasn't for NYE.And u know exactly why barbara wouldn't play for 514 anymore after that event.
my 2 cents.. |

Zing.. It is a question of taste.
I can understand that you didn't like XL and Morales.. but bear in mind that many people like them and actually don't like Miss B. For exemple, in my case, at Bal en Blanc (if accoustics were right), I would have prefered Deep Dish over PVD... and was actually going there for Deep Dish and not PVD.. but accoustics completely destroyed Deep Dish's set, which needs ideal accoustics to me enjoyed. |

| its not about taste, its about tech skills. |

Most people couldn't care less about technical skills as long as mixing is okay and the tracks choosen are good (here, it 100% depends on taste). Furthermore, not too many people know the difference between a great technical DJ and the average one.
At the end, the bottom line is:
Did you enjoy the music or not? Technical skills can be important there (well, they are extremely important in techno music, but not as much for house music..), but most of your perceptions is about track selection. So, if you like the track selection and the music genre played, you'll enjoy the music.. As simple as that! |

| Derrick Carter is technically really good for a house dj. |

i love it!!!!!!!!!
i re-ignited the the david morales / celebration fire
i think hes ..and i had to go to celebration because miss B was there and for sake....we never have a good NYE lineup...
let me state this again...I HATED 514'S DECISION TO LET THAT RETARD SPIN FOR 6 HOURS....2 HOURS IS ENOUGH AND IT SHOULD BE TIME FOR THE NEXT DJ
thats the whole basis of the argument...6 hours? what the ...theres been a lot of crappy djs at many parties but god knows we didnt have to tolerate them for that long
i could have went to the dome for mc mario's gig |

delstar, you are entitled to your opinion.. but a lot of people enjoyed his set.. some people even found it brilliant.. it is a question of taste.. you can't really argument about it.
A lot of people that went to Swirl hated Mauro Picotto, but it doesn't stop him from being a great DJ, and it doesn't stop people from enjoying his music/style and his set that night.. |

its true everyone is entitled for an opinion, i think he just had to fill up 6hours with his record box. So basically he was playing along everything from house to cheesy house to gay house.
anyway this subject goes nowhere.
And its true what's impressive is to see Djs tryin their mixing skills on whatever style they'r on, and what adds to it if he's mixin one of those styles that u can hardly use EQs on. |
