The Tenori On is WAY cool... but I figure that its limitations would make it a coffee table toy for me. Don't get me wrong, it does what it does well, but it could do more without THAT much more effort.
Be sure to bring back a full report! Have fun.
Monome, now that's another great one... |

| Planning on getting a monome this year myself actually. The Tenori-On is a bit of a cash in and its not as flexible or elegant IMO. Plus, the monome has wood. |

Were you fortunate to grab one of the first runs? If so, are you utilizing it live at all? Too rich for my blood, that's all I can say at this point! |

256 would actually be too big for me I think. But a 128 is pretty beautiful. I think I'll have to go with a 64 because of funds though.
Is there anyone using this stuff live on here? Mr Mouse perhaps? I think its got great potential for putting improvisation back into electronica.
And its good to have you here Joel, I thought you might have run away after the Hybrid remix thing:p |

well, the 128 is actually ideal if youre controlling one thing... since you can only really have a max of 128 note numbers or CC's
i opted for the 256 for the 128 note numbers and acess to 128 cc's on one deck without too much flippin around...
for all monome users... defo check out Molar, www.monome.org ... somewhere up there... steve duda is a motherin genius. Its a dope VST plug that communicates via OSC to the monome for some mad live loop muckery... like MLR... only funner. |

Do you have any video of YOU doing any mad live loop muckery? Some of the only stuff I've seen is people doing ambient or DnB stuff with their monomes. It works out quite well, but I'd like to see some solid EDM spittin out of one. |

Totally man, I was blown away when I first saw that video.

Okay.. this one is brilliant, in terms of control, not in melody:

Great stuff here too, especially at the end of the video:

I find the little dog in the background of two of those quite funny, I keep imagining its nodding its head to the music:p
These are a good demonstration of what would be so much more interesting than just a DJ in a club spinning CDs or whatever, theres so much potential here:D |
