...and book your hotel rooms yesterday...another "big convention" is happening the same weekend this year according to the Lovefest promoter, so rooms are going to be scarce and über expensive! :eyespop:

I think it is ESSENTIAL that any and all lineups be confirmed ASAP and be announced ASAP. I think it's not a huge deal to the locals, but if organizers want the event to grow and with it growing open the doors to getting more interest from sponsors....it's key to convince people to travel to SF that week(end) for LoveFest....and to get the general person to do that, it's going to take solid lineups and letting people know what those lineups are early.

And announce early who will be on floats vs. who will be at parties.

Last year we started hearing details for LoveFest super early but it still took some time to find out lineups and then once the lineups were announced for various parties, no one had a real clue who was on what float, if at all, until very late in the game.

Visitors want to know what they would be coming for and not "hope."

Also think it would be key to work on more pre/after-parties that cater to the 18+ or all ages crowd...

key key key....it's so f'n key.

And kee lovefestsf.org updated CONSTANTLY. Sorry, but the site has pretty much sucked the past couple years at informing the public......being responsive to the public through the website shows major commitment to the public. It's key....especially (again) for people who aren't sure what it's all about or if they should invest their time and money (donations, travel, pre-parties, afterparties, etc) for the event.

Hope my message doesn't go in one year and out there other....I could be wrong in the end, but last year the manner and pace of which I personalyl saw the public being informed of things regarding the event sucked.....party details lacked, travel deals....non-existent until a week or two before the event.

I don't want to hear that "we are making sure to do this and that this year"....I want to see action! I want to see the event grow! After 2005 there was the opportunity for the event to EXPLODE...bt seems like the last two years it's just been going through the paces.

Maybe money/donations is an issue with being able to move things forward as fast as organizers would like. Maybe it's permits, etc...as a person who just looks for to the event (and not thinking about what I may or may not know that the general publich knows), that doesn't matter to me (and this goes for pretty much any industry, not just EDM/nightlife!)...a new lovefest site SHOULD be launched by now...with a NEW design....it didn't even need a date for the vent. It could have said Summer or Fall 2008 and just be public with everyone that it's in fact comaming and say how progress is going with setting up the event. Getting personal with the fans is such a big part of creating success, especially in today's world of personal/company/business/you name it blogs which people are just attracted to!

This event isn't like Ultra or Trance Energy or some other major festivals in the world which people know is coming 100% and is going to have an amazing lineup.....LoveFest is still trying to build its reputation as an event for the world to keep its eyes on and until it reaches that status organizers need to be in touch with the public as much as possible!

My two cents...maybe I just wasted two cents, but LoveFest could be so special...it could be THE EDM event the US has that compares to some other major events you see around the world. It's an event that could be the fall counterpart to WMC/Ultra in the US....but more needs to be done, IMO!

I know the organizers work for free, and I respect that...100%..but still, there is soooooo much potential and it seems like, from a public point of view, they are not trying to reach that potential. of course, I could be 100% wrong in thinking that....but then again, if the website or whatever was updated regularly with updates on how organizing a year's event is going, I would be able to see that!!!!

Not trying to be mean....just proud of what our city has been able to accomplish with the event and just want to continue see the quality of it progress!

I personally know quite a few people who live outside the bay area...from SoCal to the east coast, who were kinda interested in coming last year but the overall lack of details and lack of solid travel deals basically forced them to stay back at home.

I don't want to hear that "we are making sure to do this and that this year"....I want to see action! I want to see the event grow! After 2005 there was the opportunity for the event to EXPLODE...but seems like the last two years it's just been going through the paces. Last year there were some really solid floats...great floats everywhere, but again people didn't know who was on what floats until within a few weeks of the event.

Maybe money/donations is an issue with being able to move things forward as fast as organizers would like. I'd love to see more people at LoveFest than Berlin LoveParade 2006...about 1.3 million should do it and would be nice! :)

junkproject
Aslong as the lineup is great, it will bring people to sf. You cant beat a free day party, with an awesome lineup.
skizzell
Definitely going. Not quite sure how I missed it last year...
