i really hope this is a serious thread / question if it isn't then that's pathetic.
there is no straightforward answer to this question, this is why they still are trying to find out why it happens and how to prevent it. the best answer i can give you is that it's caused by a bunch of factors in someone's life, stress mainly. sometimes is a mental illness, although the majority of suicides are just from problems in someone's life that they feel they are backed into a corner with no exits.
i had a close friend commit suicide and i still don't know to this day why he did it... |

Well of course it's a serious question, otherwise I wouldn't put my precious time in it.
However, you seem to have completely missed the point of my question. There is a (relatively) new phenomenon going around where people push each other on the internet to commit suicide, people making internet suicide pacts etc. It happened most recently in Bridgend where 7 suicides are linked together.
I know there are forums where people discuss suicides and encourage each other to do it, I just can't seem to find them.

Nabistay, have you heard about alt.suicide.holiday? It's a group in which people about to commit suicide help each other out.
Some girl's parents even threatened to sue the group because they helped their daughter kill herself. |
