Actually, Revelations is really a message to Christians at the time of it's writing. It isn't actually about the end of the world but about the present time. It was written in order to motivate Christians to continue their defiance of Rome (the beast is Nero - six hundred, three score, and six = Nero in a Hebrew code familure to Christians of the time, the "mother of harlots = rome). John was exciled by Rome and writing this manuscript in code so that it would not be understood as a call to keep up the fight against Rome... probably so his guards wouldn't destroy it. Those who believe he's actually talking about a war of evil vs. good with Jesus physically decending to earth in order to venquish the evil are mistaken, probably because they lack the historical context or requisit background knowledge to understand the allagory. In the end, John is really just stating his belief that if Christians hold true to their faith it will conqure rome... turns out he was right.

I wouldn't doubt he had found some good fungi or just plain gone made based on the imagry in that book... not to mention he had been imprisoned on a small island, living in a cave, and was nearing 100 years of age. I have to admit, I love Revelation for what it is - a motivational speech.

i like the concept of a final battle between good and evil and god laying the smack down.

i saw an awesome short film involving jesus with the book of life on his laptop before the impending apocalypse, and satan trying to convince him to hand over the laptop to protect it from jesus senior and his plans for judgement day.

Sometimes deep down, I wanna be sent to hell when I die..just to see god's or jesus's face when i'm burning and then he goes.. "WHOS LAUGHING NOW BITCH!!HAHAHA!"

I gotta admit....if that happens,I would probably have a little laugh..and then cry back into torture.

you'd be hard pressed to make me laugh if i was on fire :/

The whole fire thing really annoys me to no end... IT'S A METAPHORE!

BTW, if you take a closer read of the new testament you'd see that it really says the Kindom of God is open to all who do not reject the love of god (which is to say all love), whether you believe or not. Many Christians dislike this idea as they believe there should be some reward for their faith that's exclusive to them; however, if their faith is correct then despite their desire to the contrary there is no such exclusive reward awaiting them.

One way to describe the Bible (Old plus New Testament) would be to say that it is encoded using the steganography method. Another legitimate way to describe it would be to say that it uses the "Chaff and Winnowing" technique of encryption. In addition to that latter method of encryption, an ancient Oriental method of encryption called "parallelisms" was also used. So even though it were to be winnowed (i.e., the chaff removed), the resulting parallelisms would still have to be solved in order to know what was meant by what was said.

At the present time, the most thoroughly winnowed portion is the so-called "Gospels" portion. The parallelisms winnowed from that portion are available for solving at http://greatriddle.flifree.com
