Aside from not pissing on the national monument! Myself and some friends are going. We know about the "brits around" perception so we want to be as knowledgeable of the language and culture before we go.

Also we are all (bar one lol) Scottish so how do you. "I'm Scottish not English"? Made a huge difference in Krakow. lol
:p

What difference does it make if you're a Scottish tourist? I mean, I know England's internationally known for its chavs but don't you guys have neds up there? :conf:

Oh we do. But our scum tend just to goto spain. While englands go all over. Plus even scots get confused for english, like people think britain = england. So when you tell them "I'm not english" they like you better. :p

Also in general scots even scummy ones aren't that loud lary way english scum are (as in the lower order guys). I remember in Amsterdam being in front of alot of them in a line for a club.... no wonder they hate brits there.

An example is:

Scottish Football Fans: Celtic FANS get the fair play award, which is normally for teams. Because of the way they behave abroad (best in the world apparently). At home ours are right up there with the worst for violence, but abroad we are representing our country.

English Football Fans: Barred from europe at all for years.

EDIT: Google 'english and scottish fans' without the 's and look at some of the google books on the first page. Quite amusing actually. :p

Going to one of the countries with the highest ratios of women to men in the world, with cheap beer....yeah you would probably think that.....if you were gay. :p

Shut it Arteh! Latvia has a rich cultural history and although there are many Russians living in Riga, it is not the language the majority of people speak.

hmm, so i was in Riga in 2001, so alot of things have changed and while i was there i was staying with family so i diden't hit the clubs so i don't have any recommendations on that. Make sure to go to Vec-Riga (pronounced vetz-Reega) which is the historic and super old part of town, there are alot of kool bars and restaurants there. This one i remember is called Vermenites that is a great buffet style resto that is really good and very cheap(look it up, i forget what street its on). There all also beer gardens everywhere but i don't think they will be open until May. The Jurmala (pronounced yurmala) is the beach lands that are a 30 minute train ride from Riga are super nice and there are tons of hotties and beer gardens and fun to be had there when it gets to summertime. Other than that, enjoy your stay and be carefull not to stop and talk to shady people that try to talk to you on the street esp. late at night, there are alot of robberies. Its not that bad, but be careful just in case.

enjoy your stay and pm me if you have any further questions!
