Ok so not much gonna be said at the moment but :eyes:
from both sides ned absolutely warmed up that room so well and get the people going just right. And then dubfire came on..... and SO began the total chaos to a fully packed room .. its 830 and we just got home and the place still had about 650 plus going totaly ape great start to the long weekend... |

crazy crowd, crazy !
dubfire has a serious pump and it was pretty good but as with a lot of his productions, i don't really find it very vibey.
empty sounds from dubfire...
missed ned's opener, which was very sorry about, am sure he had a crazy vibe going on!
good seeing the homeys of course, and it was nice to see stereo that packed for tech! i suppose the dish does that |

but the set did have good progression and solid elements, each track was a bit better than the last...
i just wasn't a fan of the overall feel and vibe of the music [dubfire] played. |

Imo, one of the worst night ive had at stereo...
Dubfire really dissapointed me, i wasnt expecting much... and didnt get anything... every track sounded the same, no variation...
Anyway, first time seeing ned, really liked what i heard, sadly the sound was too low..
Overall, im sad im chose this over howells next week...
Nice seeing erika and maher. |

ok so, i got to stereo around 130am, ned started pumping it out around 215am...what a solid, proper warm up he gave! i think alot of people are used to hearing sultan warm up for dubfire (myself included) and he does an insane job every time but thursday was just different in the best of ways...ned, my god. NED! how to describe??? just...proper deep prog (not banging, fist-pumping prog), ummm, i know i use this term alot but there were some defo attitude-infused techy housey beats on his menu, and of course some straight up tech, soooo much atmosphere and realism in the sound he produces. Just fan-fkn-tastic, quite frankly. Place had about 800 people slammin' away for him, was really fun :)
THE bestest track of Ned's set and possibly the night: SNM's absolutely retarded insane mashup of Eric Prydz - Pjanoo (original mix) VS. Daft mothafkn Punk - Da Funk (original mix as well)...guys i seriously went bonkers :eyespop:
follwowed by the 2nd bestest track of Ned's set: some freaking beautiful tight remix of Julie Dennis' re-work of "Fever"...again, :eyespop: !!!
Ali got on around 430am and honestly, I think he ripped the place to shreds with his edgy, new-wave, banging, minimal inspired techno sound. I really do feel the people who are saying the tracks sounded the same but guys, look. He's immersed himself in a techno based sound...that in itself gets repetitive (and this is coming from someone who ADORES linear beats). anyways, maybe it was just a factor i made myself overlook, cuz i was honestly rocking out. i really, really enjoyed myself. a big improvement from when i saw him on canada day 2007 at stereo. HUGE!!! and of course (to be expected), proper smooth, flowy tight transitions/mixes. He worked the volume on that system so damn well...I was next to a booth monitor most of the night and my ears did not hurt as much as they should have when I left at 8am. I'd say about a nice 850-950 people out at the temple on a thursday night for a true subliminal sound experience. Didn't recognize a single tune as he was pumping out all his new for WMC, giving it a test drive ;) so if anyone can ID some stuff, cheers...
the vibe, meh, not too sure about it. 30 min lineups to smoke = WTF! it was THAT packed...stayed away from the crowd as i usually do on packed nights like those...was really hot in there too...lots of youngish (18-21) university students out, ummm...overall 8.5/10 :D |
