Hey, can anyone think of any good songs that sort of relates to or can epitomize some of these characters taken from a book (The Glass Menagerie)? (MUST have vocals). doin this for homework... due monday :D :D
-Amanda, a proud, vivacious woman, she nonetheless clings fervently to memories of a vanished, genteel past. She is, at the same time, admirable, charming, pitiable, and laughable.
(so basically a song that has a wanting to relive the past type of lyrics)
-Laura, a twenty-three years old girl. She has a bad leg, on which she has to wear a brace and walks with a limp. Painfully shy, she has largely withdrawn from the outside world and devotes herself to old records and her collection of glass figurines.
-Tom is the son of Amanda and the older brother of Laura. An aspiring poet, he works at a shoe warehouse to support the family. He is frustrated by the numbing routine of his job and escapes from it through movies, literature, and alcohol.
(maybe a song like someone wanting to get away from life?)
-Mr. Wingfield, Amanda's husband and Laura and Tom's father, was a handsome man who worked for a telephone company. He abandoned his family years before the action of the play and never appears on-stage. His picture, however, is prominently displayed in the Wingfield's living room.
(a song having to do with someone leaving their close acquaintance forever?)
[copied from Sparknotes.com]
I kind of got one for Amanda's character: Milk Inc. - In My Eyes
lyrics: ("the light still shines in me, in my eyes, there's a part of me, that I forgot to be...!!")
Thanks for any help people.. I would really appreciate it...
You traceaddicts seem to know some very nice vocal tunes.
Everyone in my class is doing those "popular radio" songs, so I wanna be kinda different.
thanks again!!!:toothless |
