hey i have ableton 6.0.7 on a macbookpro and i downloaded this vanguard VST plug in and to use it i also downloaded a VST synth. now the issue is to upload the VST synth and use it.

i dont know how to do it n im getting frustrated !!!!
i tried to search for it through the vst tab but no luck its like my mac doesnt even recognize.
can anyone help me before i pull my hair out !!!
Lolo
First of all make sure that your vst is a Universal Binary version (that works on both ppc and intel macs).

Secondly you must activate the vst plug-in folder in Ableton Live in the prefs (live menu prefs or command-,)

Thridly you must place vanguard.vst in the following folder:

Library>Audio>Plug-ins>VST

If it still doesn't work then you must have a problem... is your software legit, for example?

Holy , there's a legend in the house (I absolutely LOVE "take my hand")... Anyway, I just wanted to relate a unique problem with one of my soft-synths. After much research I decided to purchase U-He's Zebra 2 as my first soft synth. Right after I shelled out the money for it, I could not, for the life of me, get it working on my spec'd out desktop. I don't know if it was some rare bug, or glitch preventing me from using it, but it installed absolutely fine on my vista laptop. I tried EVERYTHING. Completely re-installing ableton, and even went as far as to re-install XP, but to no avail. I have seen it install just fine on plenty of XP computers, but to this day, the Zebra has never worked right on that particular machine. I would almost bet that you don't either have it in the right location, or have ableton pointed to the right folder, as Lolo said, but I just wanted to let y'all know that even legitimately purchased vsts can still have bugs and problems (even if it's one in a million).

Absolutely agree.

It's even worse as many plug-in developers don't even code installers so you have to copy the files manually.

Did you contact urs heckmann for your installing issues??

I'm not running windows so I can't tell. Zebra CM works fine here, although I recently went for analog, tension and electric for approximately the same money as for Zebra Deux.

It boasts better integration with Live 7 and better timing too, which is critical for performing.

I sure did, and he was incredibly helpful and nice, but for some reason, we could just never get it working properly. In total I spent over 20 total hours trying everything I could think of to get it to work. I use my laptop as my dedicated "production machine" so it's a moot point, but I just found it weird that it worked perfectly in every instance I ever saw, except for the one on my desktop computer.
