review:
- huge lineup as already mentioned, and of course, it was more of a "raver" crowd than people who actually knew or cared about any of the tunes being played, as was expected. alotta in Etards, a lotta trannies, alotta cougars, etc.
infected mushroom - not my thing. ill let someone else comment on them.
house room - a lot of gay middle aged guys with no shirts on. also not my cup of tea
guetta - i was watching ferry and couldnt catch his set. some people told me he rocked, some people told me he sucked. i just tried to avoid the house room as much as possible
ferry - rocked the house. notable tracks:
into the dark
beautiful
fire
jan johnston - let the world fall apart
breakfast - the horizon
seth hutton - don't look behind you
georgia - ode to 99
i think he played 6am too but i could be wrong about that one
best part of the night.. SYSTEM F!!!! yes they both came on together and dropped exhale just before armin took over the decks, which was very cool
armin pumped out a solid set and kept the energy going strong until about 9am when menno took over, which is around the time i left. i was a little out of it by this point and someone else might be able to better ID some of the tracks he spun by but some memorable ones i remember:
toca's mircale
la guitarra
ernesto vs. bastian - thrill
i really wanted to catch menno but as you might imagine by the time he came on at 9am everyone was pretty wiped out.
tiest part of the night:
i dropped $100 and my ids somewhere when i was dancing which im sure some E-tard picked up .. so if anyone found cash on the floor with a brown guys drivers license.. damn you.
all in all was it worth it? for the one-time experience, yeah. but not something i would do again and again, the only good thing about it was the DJs, which, as somebody already mentioned, you can usually catch for $20 on a saturday night
i would say, probably about 5 - 10% of the people there actually knew anything about who was spinning or what they were playing, the rest were just there to get ed up and see what all the hypes about |

as stated in the montreal forum..
I had fun! .. haha of course
I got lucky and got a free vip ticket last minute, sold mine off to a friend and bolted to BeB around 12... because of guestlist drama for a friend we didn't get in until 12:30
headed straight for.. yup.. you should have already known
INFECTEDDDDD
ing nutso. insane. rah rah clap clap. hands down the best ive ever seen them perform. 9/10 .. the crowd wasn't as crazy as they were for Decadence on Thursday.. but none the less.. it was a very energetic and greatttt way to start off my night
I was pretty bored with the house room until Guetta came on. id never heard him before and i wasnt expecting much at all.. definitley proved me wrong. I can appreciate the cheese when its such a big event and its someone ive never seen. :p i had a ton of fun 8/10
Offer was amazing. HE [not she.. blah stop that] threw something new out. Yes.. he still had his diva diva fagness ... but hey... I loved that.. but he threw some tracks in that I would NEVER have expected him to play.. and that totally made my morning :) 10/10
Victore Calderon never dissapoints me. Loved every second of his set and the only thing I would have changed would be that he played earlier in the night instead of one of the other guys [whos names i dont remember because they didn't leave a lasting memory on me].
The only TAs I saw were Kotsy and Malek haha .. and thanks for dealing with the boys . theyre not so bitchy all the time :p only when im not dancing with them and/or they dont think they look good enough for photos ahaha <33
ps kotsy i cant wait for the videos you took! what time did you jet out?
I never stepped foot back in the trance room after infected. my roomie said it was insane.. but thats not my thing.. so Im not gonna bother commenting
hope everyone recovers well!
ps. dropped by stereo this am. if it hadnt been free i would have been angry. of the 25 people there 20 of them were over 30. awkward much?
so overall? last years BeB was MUCH better music wise.. but this year was a great time with my friends and i can say it was well worth the money :D |

Who cares? They heard Bal en Blanc was a good party and they went. Why does it matter if they knew who the DJs were or not? If they didn't come, there would be no Bal en Blanc. You're making it sound like they had less of a right to be there than you did due to the fact that they didn't know who was spinning.
How many people on TA can say that they knew who the DJs were the first few parties they went to? |

LOL...I guarantee you that more people at that party knew who was spinning and what they were spinning then any party in Toronto. |

So did I, but most didn't. There is no reason for this kind of arrogance. |

I chalk it up to just being another young and uneducated mind.....give him a few years and he will realize that being able to ID tracks doesn't mean you care about and understand the music. |

I slept until 7am and didn't get to Bal en Blanc until 8:30am! Oh well. I was there to see Victor anyway.
Victor was dropping absolutely retarded bombs. It was just 3 hours of bombs, right before the WMC!
I ended up in the DJ booth for most of the morning, and man oh man, I was so tempted to read his openly visable CDs, but I didn't...because I'm a nice guy (and all his bombs would be posted on the internet...)
Anyway, going to pack for Miami and then do a proper review... |
