Reason 4.0 kicks Question

I just noticed that when I convert my finished wav audio Reason file to MP3 it creates a weird high-pitched sound that accompanies the kicks. Like a crappy psy-trance kick. It sounds good as wav until the conversion. Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it.
Thank you. |

Which MP3 converter are you using? |

Well I used iTunes at first, then I used Sony Sound Forge 9.0 and it's the same. Ugly clicky sound. |

When you render the WAV in Reason, what bitrate and sample rate settings are you using? |

I used 44,100 Hz bitrate and bit depth of 24. |

I'm not sure what could be causing this. Those are the same settings I use, and files exported from Reason work fine for me. I encode my MP3s with LAME, so I guess you might want to try that and see if it helps. |

Eh, I tried. No luck. It's weird. I used Sony to master it, and even with the clicky kicks, I saved the wav and played it in iTunes and it sounds fine. But when I upload it to the Internet it does the clicks again ;\
Oh well, as long as it sounds good on my stereo I'm ok :] |

Maybe there's a problem with whatever program you're using to play back the files. I used to get clicks in Windows Media Player sometimes. |

Try 16bit and see if it does the same. |

Well here is the song. The first 15 seconds you can hear the thing I'm talking about.

It happens with any kick I use. But like I said, it sounds right on my iPod, in my car and on all other stereos. I just think it's weird that a perfectly fine wav file sounds different when I load it into Sony Sound Forge or when I upload it to the web. |

Umm... you mean the distortion? You need to check your levels more carefully. |

I don't think this has anything to do with distortion. Levels are fine. |
