Mixer?

I am looking at buying some DJ equipment in the coming months.
I believe I am set on a pair of Pioneer CDJ-800MK2's, and Sony's MDR-7506 headphones, However I am not sure on the mixer. I was going to get cdj-200's instead of the 800's, but I think the extra month would be worth it in the long run.
As for the mixer... I was going to just get a Numark Dxm06 since my budget is going to be stretched already with the upgrade of the cdj's, but maybe spending a little more on what I want will yield benefits now and in the future.
If I was going to get a good mixer, I would want Midi controls, so I could use my Macbook occasionally. I also spin mostly Progressive trance and house (if that makes a difference).
I was impressed with the Ecler Nuo4 Mixer. Not sure if that would be the right choice. I dont think I would want to spend more than $1000 on a mixer.
Thanks for any input or suggestions you have. Much appreciated. I cant wait to finally get gear. |

definitely!
i have a xone:92 rotary myself with cdj-100s. :toothless
gonna get rid of the cdjs in the future though and get something better.
anyway, from what i've heard, the nuo4 isn't that good of a midi controller, dunno if any proper mixer currently out there is. |

Korg Zero 4 is a good mixer / midi controller / FW interface... but WAY out of yoru price range, but proper mixers with midi control do exist.
Anyway, try the Korg KM4 mixer (or KM2 for 2 channel). I ordered the KM4 to augment my existing setup (which uses a pioneer DJM600), as I have so much hooked up hahaha. Includes built in Kaoss FX pad. Built like a tank. I say get a GOOD mixer and then add a GOOD midi controller like a Torq Xponent (what I use) or whatever you may choose. Don't shortchange yourself buddy.
KM2 - $379.00

KM4 - $499

ok...
Im with you on not shortchanging myself. After thinking about the midi, I dont think I would use it. And if I should decide to, I can buy Torq. Very good point. Thank you.
I understand not to cheap out on a mixer, I also dont want to go overboard. I think ive narrowed down my choices. (all in a relative price range)
-Pioneer DJM-400
-Korg KM-402
-Allen and Heath Xone 32
-Ecler Nuo 3
Now I know there are other options, and im open to suggestions. Im leaning to the 400 or 32 or Nuo3. I kinda want more than 2 channels, but it is possible to have more than 2 channels on the 400, you just have to flick that switch.
Im also confused about the Korg's pad. What does that do?
Thanks again. |

AndyJL,
IMHO if your starting out get a s**t cheap mixer and decent CDJ's, it'll take you a few months until you need a better mixer + you won't be thrown in at the deep end with a four channel mixer with a multitude of (to a beginner) indecipherable knobs.
PS
Everyone else, please don't flame me :eyespop: |

If it works like every other kaoss pad, it can do all sorts of stuff. You should youtube Korg Kaoss Pad, although the one on the KM mixer looks more limited. Still cool though. |

| Don't skimp on the mixer purchase, that dxm is garbage. The Ecler is a sweet board, and don't be afraid of 4 channel mixers either. Their not anymore complicated than a 2 channel, just bigger ;) Check out Rane Empath, the Mackies, and hell even a Pioneer 500 or 600 u could get pretty cheap. |

I think im going to go with the ecler nuo2, possibly the nuo3 depending on funds.
The more research I do the more I like ecler, and the more good things I hear about them.
Plus the nuo2 isnt a whole lot more than the numark I was going to get in the first place.
Thanks for all the advice! |

Ecler are great mixers and I absolutely love playing on them, but don't pass up on the Korg stuff too lightly. I really love their mixers, and have actually been dying to get on the Zero series for a while now.
Either way it looks like you're on the right track as far as I'm concerned. Good luck. :) |

The DXM series is actually very well-built and cheap.
If I had to pick one mixer that was best value for money I'd say the DXM 06 or DXM 09.
They are great beginner mixers. They have reasonable sound, you can punish the out of them, and they even have some basic effects. |
