Spring is officially here and summer is not far behind. With the patio in mind, post your favourite drink recipes for a hot day, may they serve you well.
That was a pun. :)
Caipirinha
The name of Brazil's most famous cocktail means "little peasant girl", a reflection of the roots of its prime ingredient, cachaça (ka-SHASSa). A spirit distilled from sugar cane juice, cachaça was liberally doled out to slaves working on the Portuguese colonist's sugar plantations in the 1600s. Today, it is among the five most-consumed spirits in the world. Recipes for the Caipirinha vary from province to province in Brazil, sometimes calling for lemon, more often for lime, or occasionally substituting fresh passion fruit or a piece of ripe pineapple. Part of the fun of making one is the preliminary crushing of the fruit in the bottom of the glass with a wooden pestle or wooden spoon - just enough to release the juices without letting any bitterness from the lemon or lime rind escape.
1 lime or half a lemon, cut into quarters
2 tsp fine sugar
2 oz cachaça
Ice
1. Put the lime or lemon and the sugar into a tumbler or Old-Fashioned glass.
2. With a wooden pestle or spoon crush the fruit to release the juices. Add the cachaça and ice.
3. Pour everything into a cocktail shaker and shake well.
4. Return everything to the tumbler. |

Ingredients
* 2 oz. (60 mL) Cuban white rum
* 1 lime (or 2 ounces (60 mL) lime juice)
* 1 tsp powdered sugar
* 4 mint leaves
* Club soda
Garnishes
* Mint sprig
Glass
* Collins Glass
Instructions
1. Muddle mint leaves and sugar
2. Fill with ice, then add rum and lime juice
3. Stir, then add a splash of club soda
4. Garnish with mint sprig |

From south america i like a good caipirinah and a pizco sour

Espresso Martini
In a shaker tin with ice add:
1 oz. Espresso shot
1 oz. Vanilla vodka
1 oz. Dark chocolate liqueur
Shake until tin frosts
add 1 oz. half-and-half
Swirl a bit, strain into a martini glass rimmed with cocoa powder. Enjoy.

captain and coke is a ing disgusting drink and is really more for chicks than guys
Another good drink for hot days is a Bombay Sapphire and tonic or a Sapphire martini with just a tiny splash of vermouth and a lime twist |
