What's the longest a song or remix has taken you?

Just curious because I think I'm about to set a damn record.

I make progress, but REALLY slowly... only my second song, but my first took about 2 months... this one is embarrassingly MUCH longer.

Pretty much anything good I do goes quickly, anywhere from a couple days to a week and a half or two weeks.

I'll sometimes spend months tweaking mediocre tracks in the hope that they'll turn into better ones, but sadly that never pans out.

Thanks for the candor - I think that's where I am.

I didn't mean to imply anything about your unfinished work, by the way.

I was just describing my own situation, although other producers on this forum have posted similar thoughts to mine.

I think that's where I'm at though. I'm struggling with this... I've got the core of the song where I want it. I'm just going nowhere on adding pads, effects, and all the other stuff... really frustrating... but I think I'm basically trying to make something out of nothing - or the equivalent of writers block now that 50% of it is done.

Thissss. I dunno why I don't just give up if nothing's happening after two days. The remix of Ascension - Someone that I did turned out great and I literally did it over the course of two days. Almost all of my stuff is written in one sitting, then tweaked in the next, and its damn near close to done by then. Only a few tracks that spanned weeks that i've done have come out decent.

I've had tracks sitting for years that I've come back to and finished in one sitting. You're just trying to make really great tracks and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

2 weeks, couple of hours a day.

hey do you know where the parts of that track are available?

fastest was 6 hours, slowest was about 2 days.

If i dont get it nailed down within a day, i bin it. No point wasting time on something that is going nowhere.
