hard means..like hard khunt or hard as nails...so by definition hard is a TOUGH thing - ie websters dictionary -

uplifting :UpLiiftiiingto be made to understand homosexuality with a melody (ie most of todays trance) - or made to feel good and friendly.

i agree with ya and sad isnt uplifting :)
listen to say something like muse - bliss - that is sad as...but it hits the vibe that trance is supposed to be going for...its a kind of messy melancholy....that the great tunes hit.
