....rest of world still remembers "My Super Sweet 16" and cringes hard.

quote:

Decorated Iraq war hero Sgt. Brandon King makes a celebrated return to his small Texas hometown following his tour of duty. He tries to resume the life he left behind. Then, against Brandon’s will, the Army orders him back to duty in Iraq, which upends his world. The conflict tests everything he believes in: the bond of family, the loyalty of friendship, the limits of love and the value of honor.

Notable quote: "Nothing we did over there bothers you?"

I guess this is just our apology for the Iraq war then, huh?

Sometimes I just hate the world.

What I honestly have a harder time understanding is the people who spend money on this kind of (or on the 9/11 movies, Pearl Harbor, etc.) - I just don't know how you say to yourself, "You know what sounds like loads of fun? Going and seeing a big Hollywood film that makes light of a horrible tragedy. That'll be great."

There are very few films I've seen that deal with such sensitive subjects in a manner that seems acceptable to me (Schindler's List is the one that comes most readily to mind).

Cloverfield.

I have absolutely no desire to relive that day in any way shape or form beyond talking about it with other people.

I wasn't anywhere near New York or D.C., I don't know anyone who was hurt or killed, but for one reason or another just watching that all unfold on live TV still really, really ed with me to the point where I just don't take it lightly (especially given the all the more tragic long term results of the day).

Dude, agreed. Saving Private Ryan, actually, was the first one that came to my mind.

Had no one to go with - Myra is very, very particular about both what movies she'll see and more specifically what theaters she'll go to. :p
