Freesoup - Sander van Doorn Tribute Mix

I don't really need to witter on about how good Sander van Doorn is really or his profile, unless you've been under a rock for the past few years your aware of him even if you think hes not much cop. Im just gonna say abit about why I think hes such a legend.

The reason I chose him as my artist to mix is because he helped turn me into the DJ I am today. It was around August 2003 I originally got into the sound by hearing some of E-Craigs material although this was long after his hardhouse days. I loved it but there wasn't much of it and most of the ID&T stuff was starting to fade out really. I was close to giving up in some respects, I'd lost my enthusiasm for music and was coming out of my hard trance days, I liked trance same as always but didn't have my own sound to relate too. Then I caught a show of van dyk's late 2003 with SVD - Loaded on and it blew my mind, it was like ID&T style but less techy and more synth orientated and just driving - the percs were so fresh, I loved it from the off.

Time went on and I'd started to enjoy a guy called Sam Sharp too, not realising at the time it was the same person. I then caught a tune by Purple Haze which I looked at firstly because it was on Oxygen which as far as I knew Sander only released on so it must have been decent haha. Later I find out thats also Sander.

Its at this point where I'm in awe of this producer but wondering if he can DJ...at the time alot of producers had made the jump to DJ-ing and they were terrible, mixing, no structure, just toss! I hunted for ages and ages but eventually saw an add for Sander doing a guest mix on the Global DJ broadcast. From then on I was sold - the set was identical to the music I was playing and the mixing was incredible, warming up with stuff like Nathan Fake - Outhouse and banging out techno from Fred Bakers M.I.B.

Ever since late 2004 -early 05 I've been singing his praises constantly and continuously hes produced some incredible music and played some quality sets, his identity show, the dance valley cd, all the gigs I've seen him at. Just brilliant! I'd found my sound and while it took a while to catch on, its safe to say Tech-Trance blew up in the years to follow and its mainly because of Sander van Doorn. The guy will always be up there for me alongside Van Dyk and Jules as my inspiration in music. Legend!

I spent a long time making sure this mix was right, some of the tracks are cuts that I've made so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. I was dancing round my room like a twat, some of these vinyl haven't seen light for 2 years, was awesome. Evidently that is also why some of the mixes using vinyl are a tiny bit off ha ;)

Enjoy :)

P.S - For those who are thinking about missing tunes its because some fool spilt beer in my record bag (yes when we used vinyl back int' day) and ruined them. This includes A.k.A, Punk'd, Squelch and Adrenaline.

The reason that the Sam Sharp remix of Soulcry and the Hoover release aren't on there now as originally planned is because I didn't have enough time for them to fit the mix on a cd and I've used all the tunes and remixes I like the most really. This is also the reason I decided against the intro & outro, hope thats not disapointed anyone!
