This mix is great. Around the 25 minute mark it really caught me and hasn't let me go yet. So much energy.

That was the intention hehe. :D I didn't know you like goa/psy judging by your comments in some of the music discussion threads. Its never too late though. :D |

track 3 is the type of goa I cut my teeth on back in the day. Has that storming old school driving sound I just love. I still have on vinyl every release from Tip Records between 1 & 22 plus some cd compilations like http://www.discogs.com/release/58207 & http://www.discogs.com/release/33089 which for me back in the day were absolute bliss to charge too !. This is the problem I have with most of the other tunes in this mix. They will bring nothing new to the genre although I understand that is pretty hard to do at this stage. Lots of played out twiddly synth arpeggios and thin kick drums are flavour of the day at large.
The only other track which hit the sweet spot for me was at the 85 minute mark . Just storming mate !.
Great set all in all make no mistake but nothing I have not heard a thousand times before.

Thanks for the review coded audio. I have those two compilations too and they are quite good indeed. However, I disagree about that this new goa sound brings nothing new. Just the fact that its produced with modern technology is enough of an argument imo. The problem of the older goa tracks is that most of them aren't produced well and weren't mastered at all. But everyone with its personal taste. :)
P.S. The track at the 85 min is AlienxSs - Infected Creature :p |

Aren't produced well because they didn't use modern technology? That is a bit of a laugh isn't it mate ??? I would love to hear you argue that point with Quincy Jones !.
Man With No Name - Teleport ( 1995 Dragonfly Records )

Every bit of the production quality of the stuff you played IMO and 13 years old.
Thanks for the heads up on that track. |

I said most tracks mate, not all of them. :p The big names in the genre always had nice production quality but that doesn't goes for a lot of underrated gems which, unfortunately, are not. For example almost all the tracks in those compilations:
VA - Another Definition of Goa Trance (1996)
http://www.discogs.com/release/365315
or this
VA - Holy Mushroom
http://www.discogs.com/release/48919
And except that, some tracks are just sounding way too old (not bad but still they would sound better produced nowadays isn't it?) like most of Transwave, Darshan, Slinky Wizard and so on. Hearing the good old goa vibe but with a modern twist is better imo. :) |

| Yes well both of those compilations were dodgy when they came out anyway so definitely sound old now. Not sure about you but I try and listen to those artists who are on top of the production/ideas game and forget the rest. |

Well that is a safe bet. But there are a lot of gems out there trust me. Like in the first compilation I gave you a link. The track Section X - Galaxian, probably one of the most powerful and wicked goa tracks ever made. :eyespop: The problem is that most of those compilations are very hard to find and you actually never know on what you will land on. But when you hear something beautiful, the time is worth.
Returning to the topic, I would add this track - Crop Circles - Lunar Civilization (Filteria's Higher Remix). If you have heared both the original and this remix, I can assure you that you will feel the difference of the production quality. :) |

Magadansky,
where was the party? sofia, or somewhere else? i'm not as much into goa as i used to be several years ago, but it would be refreshing to know the EDM scene in my country spans more than just house and minimal techno genres, which are unfortunately infected with all the fashion hipsters

| yes where was it ?. I was in Italy for 3 weeks in March. |

4clubber, the party didn't took place in Sofia but I wouldn't say there are big changes in our EDM scene. There is a dedicated psy group but most of them as you mentioned are still in those house/techno crap. Btw you liked the set? :D
