i read in a site a few days ago that Astral Projection has sold more albums then anyone else...eclipsing Sasha,etc....
i am going to try to get the page from where i got it from..
i think Dancing Galaxy was their biggest hit... |

Wow...I love Astral Projection but thats pretty hard to believe. I always thought trance was a lot more popular than goa...I mean, trance is what all the big DJs spin, you hardly hear any goa in their sets.
But if it is true then go Astral Projection! |

You can call it Psy or Goa trance but i would say that Astral are more Goa trance (more of a spacey scientific sound) and Infected Mushroom are more Psy Trance (Weird stuff like your tripping :D )
Thats my opinion anyways... |

And what did you think? They get into a lot of charts, especially Germany...
I think you refern to Scooter as cheese, and according to that, why are you surprised, wouldn't you expect "Cheese" to sell more than "Non- Cheese"?

I like Goa trance but i don't like Psy trance either, it's too trippy for my liking :nervous: |

| jeez good for them, i love there productions. I guess if you think about it its not to suprising, they have released SOOoooooooo many tracks. I have trouble finding the vinyl on any online record stores though. |

Actually Goa Trance and Astral Projection is more popular than you think, in a worldwide sense I mean. Just look at how many people have Astral Projection songs shared in audiogalaxy. It is in the thousands for songs like "trance dance" and "mahadeva".
The reason why big-time trance DJs don't spin much Goa or Psy Trance in their sets is because most Goa Trance is not produced to be very DJ friendly. I mean Goa Trance tracks are very hard to beat match and mix because most of them don't have a proper dj friendly outro, usually ending in a blaze of glory, so most DJs don't really enjoy mixing them. Plus lots of Goa isn't even released on vinyl. Live PA is the preferred way to perform Goa/Psy Trance at parties rather than DJing. And even most of the DJs who do spin Goa/Psy spin CDs, minidisc or DAT (Digital Audio Tape). Many reason for this... One of which is that records would melt in the heat on the beaches of the Goa province of India where Goa Trance first developed.
Goa and Psy Trance is very popular in Israel, parts of Asia, Australia, Mexico and parts of Europe... Goa/Psy doesn't seem to be quite as popular in North America or Western Europe where most TAs are from, so that's why it might seem that's it's not that popular at all, but considering the whole world, it's actually quite popular in some areas.
Just look at the popularity of the largest goa/psy trance website, www.psynews.org and how many people post in the forums.
