HI,
This track was made at a competition I entered at the University. The rules was rather tough. In total I had three hours at the studio. You couldn't have anything prepared in advance and it had to be parts of at least two different existing tracks and at least one of them had to be from the 1980's. I toke two tracks from Depeche Mode, get the balance right and Dream on and tried to make in to a dance mix....
We were 40 participants and I won... :D

Nothing pathetic about this, probably one of the better mixed tracks in terms of clarity I have heard here in a while.
Melodically I wasn't feeling this, bit too much like a movie soundtrack or something put to house music. Possibly a little too fluffy if you catch my drift.
What I would be tempted to do with this is be a bit more creative with some of the panning as everything feels very central. Perhaps it's just the mood I'm in at the moment but I would like to have the stabs that come in at around 00:26 bounce around a little.
Might also want to get a little creative with a bit of reverb as it still sounds a little computerised (Yes I know it's made on a PC he he).
The kick is also a little too standard for me but on the whole a nice little track even if I can't see it making any real impression in a dance floor scenario.

I ran out of time before I had the chance to make everything perfect. I have considered to do some more work on it, but at the moment I've seem to have lost the inspiration.
Maybe I will get back with an altered and more complete version...

I like this one actually. The melodies and composition remind me of old Kraftwerk tracks. Maybe it's just the synth stabs, who knows. :p
Sound quality is nice too. Thanks for sharing! :) |
