Chris was cool enough to give us this exclusive interview. Check it bitches! And yeah, come see him at Cielo next Tuesday.

1. Firstly, are you excited for your first NYC gig?

Very excited. This is probably the most major US city I have not
played at yet, so really excited to play, and also visit such an amazing and well respected place

2. How are things going with your label, Rising Music?

They are going really well. The label has grown so quickly for me, and sometimes it is difficult to keep up with what is going on with it. We have now got a series of records all ready to go for release now, so it is really shaping up to be a super busy summer for us. We have records coming from Rhythm Code, Lys, Beltek, Max Vangelli and of course, myself. Going to be very busy!

3. Your productions seem to run the gamut, from progressive and
melodic to dark and twisted electro, where do you get your inspiration?

I am not sure really. I always say I get inspired just as much by the good things as the bad things. If I hear something bad, I want to make a record with no resemblance to the bad record! I can be inspired by what I eat, who I talk to, just as much as what I listen to. I just love making music and that is the main inspiration for me.

4. Can you talk a little about your collaborations with Sebastien Leger?

Of course. Sébastien is a super talented producer. I feel privileged to have worked with him, and when we are together, we definitely bring out the best in each other. We just want to make records with a classic feel to them, and so far, I think we have a achieved that with the lead singles we have released.

5. What kind of music, other than EDM, did you listen to growing up?

All sorts. My mum always had all sorts of music blasting. A lot of 80's new romantic sort of stuff, and pop music I guess. I can't say my musical background is very rock n roll you know.

6. When you¹re not DJing or in the studio, where might we find you?

Good question. In a restaurant or take away. I really try to eat good, but when I slip up, I slip up big time! I love Indian food. It is so satisfying at the time, but in the morning I always seem to regret it. I also love watching football, and playing pool or snooker. I don't have much more time to do anything else other than that.

7. If you could only do one, DJ or producer, which would you pick and why?

It would have to be produce. I just think there is a greater opportunity to leave your mark by being a producer. People in 100 years can listen back to my music, but they can never (at least, I dont think they can) experience me DJing. I also find it so creative. I have been making all types of music this past year or 2 that nobody has heard and I can't wait for people to hear it. I think I will surprise a few people along the way.

8. The most embarrassing thing in your iPod?

Hmmmm. I have Queen's greatest hits, and Will Young - leave right now. Great pop IMO, but no street cred what so ever.

9. What¹s the craziest thing to happen to you while DJing?

Hmmm, I've been asked this a lot but I dont have a great answer for it either?!?! A few years ago there was a big problem with transport in Edinburgh for NYE as the big street party got cancelled due to bad weather and high winds, so all the taxi's were used taking really p**sed off people back home, so the only way I could get to my gig was in an Ambulance. I got some funny looks that night when I arrived :)

10. Chris Lake vs. Mel Gibson (as William Wallace) in a steel cage death match. Who wins?

Hmmmm, Lake vs. Braveheart. Well, I would give it my best shot, but I am no warrior, so I think he would chop off my head for victory. Damn, that question has made me feel defeated. Thanks! hehe.
