Enter the DAW that you use the most.
NOTE: Don't be a dumbass and put "Cubase or Studio 4" if you run Cubase SX3. Cubase SX3 doesn't support VST3... Vote "Cubase SX*..." instead.
I've been watching this thread for a while:

In summary, a few plugin devs aren't liking the new VST3 spec. Their arguments are generally that the benefits are almost non-existent, as VST2.4 can already achieve most of these things (albeit, often "unofficially"). Furthermore, VST3 is not backward compatible. There has been a bit of talk about an OS plugin API being developed, such that we are no longer tied down to Steinberg. Incase you weren't aware yet, Cubase 4 is the only major DAW to currently support VST3 and the VST standard is obviously under Steinberg's control. The main differences are OFFICIAL support for:
- Sidechaining
- Dynamic I/O and surround sound
- VSTi audio input
- Smart plugin disabling (CPU load reduced)
What are everyones thoughts on this? |

| Well, I think that proprietry standards are a terrible idea, and that steinberg are asses. I don't see why they shouldn't have made VST3 Backwards compatible either... Bad move. |

| It's sad because VST3 has a lot of potential but the lack of backwards compatibility and the refusal of Steinberg to share it really ruins it. |
