The corporate ladder can sometimes be very frustrating.

Dumbasses upper in the ladder who make you apply their stupid decisions.

i have no problems with my corporate job. i learned all the functions of my job rather quickly that i'm actually bothering my boss for more work. i run out of to browse on the web (TA is banned now, the IT dept is onto me it seems) so work makes the day go by faster.

the people that work in my area are cool people, too. we're always bullting or making fun of things that happen and the strange people at our job. some black dude that got hired thru a contractor got fired last week for straight-up passing out with his forehead resting on the desk. his boss woke him up and asked him if he wasn't feeling good and needed to go home. his response: "no, i'm perfectly fine. i went to bed late last night so i thought i'd take a 5 minute nap.. i figure a 5 minute nap wouldn't hurt". suffice to say, he was fired 3 hours later. :haha: the guy was a prick anyway. it was a black guy that definitely came off as a white racist. a couple people took pictures of him passed out with their cellphone, i'm gonna have to get those and post them up.

i guess i got lucky with this job because i don't wake up every morning thinking "! work :()

I work for a big corporate pharmacy chain and can't stand most of my superiors, but the job pays well. There's nothing really anyone can do, you can have all the demonstrations and it will barely make a "dent" in "Corporate America's armor" :o

Retail jobs kinda suck. Especially when you have retards working above you.

heh Europe ftw.. i work for a multinational and we're supposed to follow the corporate guidelines but instead everybody has their own approach and even our local managers encourage it :D we're often taking a piss on our American and Asian coworkers if we compare their work life and liberties to ours :)

my job just affords me the things I do when I get home. It pays the bills. I try to take none of it personally...

yeah i have heard that working in corporate europe isn't as bad as corporate america...perhaps because they value productivity more over face-time? i dunno...but i would def. wanna go work there for a couple years to find out for myself :D

that's basically what it comes down to.. they don't really care how you get stuff done - as long as you get it done. if that includes you working at home or working different hours (for instance 11am to 7pm instead of 9am to 5pm) then all of that is fine :)
(obviously depends on the company but most companies are like that)

sounds like you need a better corporation. Our leaders are hellbent on truly effective leadership. So they all learn from your bosses on what not to do ;)

Of course there are turds everywhere, but the department I am in, turd free.

all the politics and ass kissing, horrible co-workers/bosses...bleh...i really wonder how people can put up with the crap for their entire working lives without going postal!

IMO 90% of the stress comes mostly from interactions with your co-workers/boss and only 10% from the actual function of the job...

+1. corporate life has it's ups and downs but usually the only positive thing is the income you're pulling in, and sometimes that's not even the case. it's true, the work itself is usually pretty straight forward. it's usually bosses and co-workers that make it unbearable. half the time you're lucky if you don't become an office cokie at very least. it sure isn't uncommon. you get all this money in exchange for your soul for 40+ hours a week for 52 weeks. pssh! been there, done that. the money isn't worth it..

just quit my last corporate nightmare back in january and i don't plan on seeing the inside of another cubicle for a good long while. sure i took a pay cut, but i'm healthier and happier than when i worked in midtown or off Wall street. sucks watching the best parts of the day pass by from behind the office windows. it definitely feels great to be able to go to the gym at 9 or 10am, or to enjoy an afternoon doing whatever I'd like to be doing, or PLANNING TRIPS AND VACATIONS without worrying about whether or not I'll be ALLOWED to take off to visit my family or in my case, go to DEMF haha! Less than 2 months away now!! :D

Anyways, the office bites the big one unless you're doing something you're truly passionate about inside the cube.

totally dude...you spend the whole day from sun-up to sun-down in the office...then when you come back you're too tired to even do anything. the best times of the day really do pass you by =/ thats what surprised me my very first day at work, how people can do this kind of thing to themselves for decades at a time. :(

now that i've learned my lesson, i'd much rather work someplace that paid me less but was stress-free (or at least as little stressing as possible), than get a high paying job and hate my life everyday lol
