i just got my copy about 3 weeks ago and the only thing that is different is

1. it's for the wii
2. lots more characters

and also i have been keeping up with game release and i don't recall them having an additional game coming out.

rjt could back me up on this i'm sure

Indeed, though I think there's just in general a ton more content. It definitely plays very similarly to melee, but the insane amount of stuff they've crammed into this blows my mind.

tried it at a friends house.

didn't like it that much, definitely fun if you are playing with other people, otherwise it gets boring, even then it was getting a little dry.

then again i would never buy a wii.

I don't think it's really a game that you can play one time (single or multiplayer) and get a good impression of.

The amount of depth is insane - it's really a complete and solid fighter.

i don't get what you mean by depth? they have a bunch of characters, each different moves (like any fighter) and a lot of powerups (okay, so thats some extra stuff a fighter usually doesn't have) and diffrent fighting areas (standard in fighting games).

generally this doesn't offer THAT much more then your standard fighting game, really.

i did enjoy it but it's just not one of those games you can get into as much as you can in other games. granted it may be because i got my ass handed to me but i don't see myself playing it very often.

in terms of game code and , yea, it feels very polished and balanced which is nice and adds a very 'stable/solid' feel to it.

What I mean by depth is that the shear number of alterable rule sets, control formations, item settings, and characters are generally unmatched by any other fighting game out there. The amount of content in SSB is unreal, and very hard to grasp until you've spent a significant amount of time with the game.

I hated it when I first started playing - thought it was a mindless button masher for people who weren't smart enough for real fighting games. It just took some time seeing just how many different options, events, etc. there really were.

I'm certainly not saying it is good in any kind of "objective" sense, but I know that I was not at all impressed when I first saw and played it at friends houses (which seems like your experience as well).

I guess I just think you should at least give it a little more of a chance, because it sounds like your initial impressions were the same as mine, and if that's the case you may start finding some things in the game you hadn't realized were there before and find yourself enjoying it a bit more.
