| i was reading in 'atomic' that dow2 will be fairly different in gameplay style to the first one. there is a non-linear single player campaign where you are based on a cruiser and are attacking some sector of space for some reason and can choose different missions that will give different rewards and paths. there will be no base building, instead they are focusing on smaller core groups of units and squads that you take with you on the campaign. every squad leader has their own face and name instead of the generic squads in the first one, to try and add more character and get you attached to your units more. your commander can upgrade equipment like dark crusade, and some enemies or bosses will drop loot like in diablo etc that you can take. sounds sweet :D |

really? that does sound pretty cool. i wonder if they'll revolve around the points system like the tabletop? one thing i loved about shogun was the ability to set max points for a match and then just choose whatever troops i wanted. |

| Having watched a bunch of movies and reading the official forums, looks like :( microing 5-10 units isnt my idea of fun. |

| Yeah supposedly they wanted to remove macro almost completely. There was talk at some point of having just one building do everything. I don't know what they ended up going with in the end. I'm sure some warhammer fanboys can clarify. |

Yeah, one building in SP. Maybe a couple more in MP.
The harcore fanboys actually sound pretty disappointed over at relic forums. |

looks like ? wtf man.

what do you mean you'll have to micro manage?? it's just a bit smaller scale than dow1. even in dow1 you never had huge massive armies cause of the unit cap. i think the focus on more detailed smaller scale units, the focus on storyline and trying to get you engaged with the characters is an important step forward for this style of game. |

like i said, looks like . its not an RTS anymore. its like an action RPG with RTS elements. bleh. i dont play an RTS for the characters, i play it for the challenge of controlling epic armies and punching on. all the game becomes now is a guessing game of which upgrades to get. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. |
