Yes he is, he actually has a PhD in clinical psychology. It's just a shame he doesn't put that degree to use a little bit more instead of having a crappy sensationalist talk show.
People who watch Dr.Phil don't care about the psychology, they only care about the meddling, and then they enter university psych programs hoping they can make careers out of meddling into other people's personal lives and after a semester or two, they realize that this isn't what the program is about, so they drop out. I dub it the "CSI effect". :p |

Having a phd in clinical psychology does not make you a doctor. You are a doctor of psychology if you are certified by the state. He was but has stopped renewing his license. Its a simple 250 dollar a year renewal but he has no use for it.
So he has a phd, but he is not a doctor. This falls under false advertisement if he was to be in practice right now. What he does could be considered therapy but with-out a license its just simple consulting. |
