Flight cases

I'm going to fly across the Atlantic this summer and I'm going to take my equipment with me.

What is the best way to protect my turntables and mixer? I'm also a bit short on money, so about $250 would be the cost limit.

thanks,

Tommi

Well, You Can Give www.htfr.com A Look, They Have A Nice Selection Of Flight Cases And You Might Find One With The Dimensions You Want. Also If You Check Hard You Can Find Someone That Can Make A Custom Flight Case For You So It Would Be At The Exact Size You Want.

You might want to insure your equipment at the same time because you never know what the guys at the customs are going to do with the case- they have no idea how to protect DJ equipment.

or make ur own.. i have a home made one.. hella cheaper.. but its just like wood thats been carpeted and u can put foam on the inside to protect ur stuff.. otherwise ur looking at a lot of money for those professional flight cases.. unless ur just talking about a flight case for ur records, u can get those for like 40 bux..

123dj has them for 39.99
so just go to you local marsmusic or guitar center or w.e and ask them to price match 123dj's price. That's how i got mine:)

i was gonna say the same thing.. the way i got mine was by going to yahoo shopping and did a search and picked a place that sold it for 40, but i had to pay shipping of like 6 bux but at least it was under 50.. i forgot which store but u could do what dj tranceformer did..

This Price Matching Sounds Great, Does It Always Work Or Are There Some Stores That Refuse A Price Match? I Have My Eye On A Vestax Mixer And I Could More Or Less Save Another 70 Pound :)

I live in Massachusetts and go to school in Colorado so this is a familiar problem for me. I have a battle coffin and a Stanton ESM-11 mixer and 2 Stanton STR8-80's, which are plastic. With my decks in my coffin, it probably weights upwards to 100 pounds if not more... which is going to cost you $100 or more dollars to get on the airplane (most airlines it is 70 or less.). If you go with seperate flight cases for the turntables, which are around $100 a piece, you're tying up 3 pieces of luggage just to get your decks and mixer over there. It's gonna be pricey. Let me know how you make out.
