COR: Pick my travel destination
View this Thread in Original format

I'm planning a trip somewhere towards the end of the summer. I have a very limited budget (luckily I don't care much for luxury) and I want to find the cheapest destination possible. Factors to consider; hotel prices, flight prices, local food, restaurants, etc. Factors I don't care about: touristy things, nightlife & parties. I've already considered a bunch of different ideas for chopping off some of the cost (such as not getting a hotel and staying up all night on the first and last day, to the crazier ideas like finding an isolated spot and sleeping on a beach :wtf: ) but if you have any more suggestions I'd like to hear them.

Here's a list of rules:

-Must be in the continental US (this will be my first trip in 10 years and the very first time I travel alone, so I prefer to start out with a more familiar environment).
-Must be within reasonable distance of an airport
-Must not require a car to get around
-Must be by the sea (atlantic or pacific, don't care)
-Must be during the second half of august (so consider climate)

I've been looking at San Diego for a while now and that's my prime candidate so far.

Nothing to do in San Diego except bang moderate looking chicks and street race

SF, Seattle, LA, and Miami are places that i would consider that can be quite cheap.

San Diego is great!! AND it's only a short jaunt down to TJ.

Did you know that San Diego means "A Whale's Vagina"?

You should definitely look at hostels if you want to save money and network with other travelers.

http://www.hostels.com/en/maps/Bana...-San-Diego/874/ - A cool looking hostel right on the beach

http://www.hostels.com/en/availabil...ostelNumber.823 - I remember passing by this in the Gaslamp district

I was there for a few days last year and loved it. I eventually want to go back for a 2nd visit.

San Diego was fun. Tijuana was more fun. I say San Diego.
