I can get anywhere and everywhere I need without a car. I'm probably happier without having to deal with one.

Yeah but how do you get to places like Detroit when you need to go to detroit?

Magic bus or super bus or whatever it is?

Tolgar I know you're subconsciously in love with me and are longing for a day when I'm suddenly attracted to men.

In the immortal words of Casey Casem ...

OP, you should be able to get to most places very easily if you live in the loop or near the red line.

i have a car and a motorcycle and i rarely use my car. i ride the cta to work everyday. as for groceries? shop online. :clown:

p.s. i hate parking in chicago!

Fixed. Nothing like those roofies you sold me. Triple stack Mercedes, my ass. Btw, I need you to give me those pics you took. Duct tape doesn't compliment my skin tone.

lucid, I know having a car is expensive, but really will you cut the umbilical cord and go without one?

I have lived off a car since I am 16 and I can't see going without one for many of the reasons you have.

But i've never lived in a vertical environment.

Duders, public transportation rocks! it truly is a cultural experience.

Lucid, you must be commuting from downtown or something? I did that all last summer. Now I am in tosa area, but I still hate having to drive to get way out west or to the east side, having the L on hand makes chicago so attractive!

Along the lines of not having a car, are there any recommendations from those in the know about finding a reasonable apartment, what neighborhoods, what to watch out for, what to expect to pay for a small studio/efficiency, how many roommates you need to have to make it fiscally possible . . . (in Chitown, that is)

I don't even remember writing that, nor do I remember why. Thus it is stricken from the record.
