Alright Alright alright.
After posting some totally worthless sh.t on these boards which have gone to h.ll anyway. I miss the people who constantly check out their mates tracks and vice versa. Anyway there are a lot of new names on the boards so there might be something promising inbetween as well. please pardon my english.
En Fin.. this all has nothing to do with the tracks I posted here.
DIMLICHT's - Filthy Fruit
Filthy. and as a fruit, it has a skin and the fruit underneath.
This is close to completing, I wonder what you guys think of it.
Maybe i'll post a 320kb/s sample later as theyre both 192kb/s now.
Just be suprised :) And I hope you enjoy! I used some sweet reverb on the bass, starts from the center, then it goes wide. sounds pretty cool :) imo.

DIMLICHT's - Black Dahlia
Here i tried to go a little more emotional, experimenting with space and stuff like that, has a nice little groove going on. I was also experimenting with vocals, which i sadly as it is had to sing myself, but theyre going out. I let them in nao so you can have a laugh. Also the essence of the track is the break.. this is where the track switches to something different. You'll see :)

I sincerely hope to get some responses. I'd really appreciate that :) and feedback is always returned! |

These are both very good tracks. "Black Dahlia" is probably my favorite. Are you going to have more extended versions of these for club play, or keep them as is?
The mixing and levels on both of these sound nice, definitely ready to play out.
The vocals in "Black Dahlia" sound kind of off pitch at one point, but I guess that doesn't matter since you said you weren't going to include them anyway.
Very well done. |

hey mate,
Filty fruit -
Definetly has big potential. the intro is kind of need but have a feel its missing something.. maybe some more percussions? or maybe some kind of a arpeggio with some time delayed vocals? loved the part at 02:10 didnt expect that to come in, very well done. really gave a nice touch to it!
Black Dahlia -
Has a nice bass, that chipping perc is quite cool. your gettng much better with the percussions yourself i must say. maybe add some pads after about 0:30/0:40 but pads that really have that warm deep bassy feel to it, nice idea of the vocals but maybe you should have put them through a vocal synthesizer and time delayed it a bit, fair play to you though of putting the effort in the tune of writing your own song text + recording it. personally though i think it would sound so much better if you equalized it a bit with the parametric equalizer aswell. good job man,
im interested in remixing "Filty fruit", its been quite a while since i remixed any of your tunes, and would like to give it shot. besides i got nothing to do this weekend so got something to look forward to then, pm me!! :D
good job on both tracks, you have improved quite a bit over the years man. :D
greetings,
Rinster. |

I'm not a new name, but here are my two cents regardless.
#1 (Filthy Fruit): I like that main filtered drum sequence you're using, well done on that. Basically perfect mixing and generally good sound selection. My only issue is the bassline that comes in around 2:10. It's OK by itself, and it's mixed fine with the other instruments, but it just seems very non-sequitur to me. The track starts out as apparently a 1-chord tech-trance banger, but that bassline would be more at home in something uplifting. In my opinion (for what it's worth, anyway), if you want to make it work you'll have to come up with some harmony that is unobtrusive and minimal but still has an obvious progression.
#2 (Black Dahlia): This one's definitely got a more consistent and flowing style, although the mixing isn't quite as strong as the other track. For the kick in particular, try to get rid of some of the click and beef up the low/low-mids, it needs more punch for this style. Maybe also add some reverb to that snare and compress or louden all the percussion to tighten it up. I also can't really hear the vocals; it's cool if you're going to take them out but in that case I'd try and fill up that frequency range with something else, otherwise it's going to get a little repetitive after 7 minutes.
I also know that this is kind of your style, but I'd try to do a little more to keep the intro progressing. It's not that long, but there's still room for an occasional filter, effect, dropout, rhythm fill, whatever. The possibilities are endless, just pick anything. :)
Hope that's helpful - I think they're both great sketches, and could both be nice hoppin' 2 AM dancefloor tunes as long as you add the appropriate colour. |

Hey man, thanks for the in-depth reviews, the listens and of course your time :) you made a lot of good points there, and I agree on the mixing being quite sucky for Black Dahlia, i've got an excuse though, saying it was mixed only on headphones :p. I've completely re-done Filthy Fruit, with your comments, and of course the comments of everybody else:).
I posted the full track on TA as well, you might want to check it out :)
thanks all! |
