It was an awesome night. From the get go the place had a good vibe all night.
RJ Pickens has another sweet set, and M Project def got the crowd more warmed up. The tempo seemd to pick up more as the night progressed. I didn't know it has his B-day, but I'm sure it was memorable for him. At a few point he had people chanting for him as he was playing. Always a plus to see people recognize and appreciate good music. SVD def had me moving all night. It didn't let up one moment. He did throw me off a lil with the reggae sounding track, but it still flowed. There so much energy that the crowd was starting to thin out by 3:30am. Most people were getting tried trying to keep up with the tracks.
All in all it was an awesome night. Expectation were exceeded, I'm still sore today even after resting all day Sunday. |

Was there for just a little bit. The guy with the dark hair that was spinning right around 12:00 was pretty funny. He couldn't decide on whether to have his hand in the air or hand on the mixer. It was like the trance gods were willing his hand in the air and he couldn’t resist. The vocal track that was played right around that time was one of the cheesiest tracks I have ever heard. Chelsea was even ragging on it and it takes a lot more for her to say something. Some douche nozzle ran into me upstairs and basically head butted me, almost gave me a black eye. Blaaaa.
Also I just don't get the three/four/five minute breakdowns. I am even a big fan of breakdowns, just ask Rob .. but were talking super epic like silence for 30 seconds then build up type of unicorn break downs .. whats the deal with that?
I guess I am just really looking for a reason musically that this type of stuff is appealing if you have listened to electronic music for at least 4 years. Afterwards I just cannot seem to figure out why anyone who knows a decent amount about music and has become a fan of EDM can still find something they like in that type of trance. Obviously from looking at the crowd there were a lot of rookies but regardless .. please enlighten me everyone, seriously.
I mean even some of my friends who are signed to MAJOR trance record labels have gone away from it after a while.
Disclaimer - On a side note I wasn't in a mood to go out or to listen to that sort of thing (not that I am ever) so that probably had a lot to do with my experience. Also I'm not trying to bash or be an I am just being honest and curious. |

That was M Project on stage. I noticed that too. Actually I have also been wondering myself about the epic breakdowns. That night the breakdowns seemed a lil longer than usual, but I think it helps people take a breather when they're dancing. That night many were dancing early on.
A few other highlights of that night was 2 fights that happened on the 2nd floor right in front of me both times. It was to the side of the production booth. There was also a couple of chicks making out while it was being recorded. I cared less and just focused on the music.
On another note, my buddy and I were noticing some funny things that DJs do while playing. We started naming some the poses/dances. We all know about the Jesus pose, but I think I saw the mime, the ventriloquist(sp?), the mime, and the Frankenstein this weekend. I have also seen the pianist, the airplane, and I forgot the last one. All in all it'sgreat to see them having as much fun as the crowd. |

| the type of epic breakdowns you describe are def a thing of the past. as far as why people still like it? diff'rent strikes for diff'rent bikes.. fwiw, I, myself, do not like those (anymore). |
