i meant on this thread...

don't usually respond to empty comments such as "circus sucks"

at least explain why ? and by the way some of you missed a wicked tech , i mean hard tech, night @ circus last saturday... so please stop saying there is no tech in montreal... missing tech venues yes, tech promoters yes, but tech djs and tech crowd, not a chance...

I'll be doing tech only nights @ academy soon, every saturday... all the best montreal tech djs on the menu... and also for tech-house and minimal tech we are lucky to have microzoo and salon daomé...

The team at circus is working hard to get the gallery room going, and we are seeing results... For my part, I see Gallery filling the hole left by aria gradually...

In meantime don't miss King Unique (UK) this saturday april 19 @ coda with creator... we are in for quite a treat... ;)

If this is the case, can you please start posting these events so people actually know about them. I want to bring some freinds out for thier first time and I know they won't like low tempo stuff that will make them sleepy. Thanks..

it will be my pleasure :)

May 3rd: Underdogs @ Academy, 4445, St-Laurent and every saturday after that with a special guest each night !!!!

Underdogs are Moevalith, Paul R and Hakim Guelmi.

They are backed up by my colleague promoter at circus Paul Melancon who is doing a great job of promoting them.

Obviously, all recent tech productions are quite different from the old school techno we used to hear 5-6 years ago... but it is still playing... x-cube and axel klein made sure we remembered that saturday bringing out their dusty vinyl (see lock and load post)... hehehe kicked ass and lots of people, trust me gallery is picking up ;)

But be careful, most tech, trance and electro djs are also playing house... king louis at LaMouche, Circus or in a rave is simply not the same music... as dj Kal at Opera or Circus or franco fabi at 1234 or circus... although their style and technique is the same... Quite frankly they also love to have the chance to play a different style in each place and make more people dance !!! So don't think they sold their soul to satan, they love what they are doing.

If you want to make a living out of djing...seems like no choice to play house or mash up of commercially known tracks. Which can make a newcomber say:" hey i've seen this guy he plays " (not liking this particular style he is playing), but in fact the same dj is spinning in a trance or tech or electro event where he plays his stuff that you'd probably go crazy on...

In fact a better dj for me, is a versatile one... the main objective is to get the crowd bouncing... so more styles you know, more repertoire you have, the more you are in position to do so.

Dj Nacht
Afterhours are out of the question for me unless its a DJ I really need to see. To me its not worth going on resident nights even if they are playing technoish. Only exception would be if we had some rising star techno Djs which we dont. Going to see these guys at places like academy is kick ass and im always down for this.
Fran666
Trust me you'll se lots of new talent at academy...

Look Hakim, Moe and Paul learned new skills like mixing without headphones... they anticipate the music as fast as lightning....really impressive... all mixes are thight as hell...

we also have dj preach... missing venues and promoters to book him... so the guy spins europe...

Hope pikknic elektronic will give time to guys like them...

Just remember both equally populated rooms at bal en blanc... half house and half tech... that's all the mtl crowd.
