Laptop Problem.....(speakers)

just bought my new laptop and i'm having a problem
my speakers work cause i tested them but when i try to play something in either itunes or windows media player no sound comes out!
not sure why, and i'm sure its a stupid little setting
it is windows vista |

1. You have vista!
2. Go to "Control panel"--> open "Sound and Audio Devices" first check mute and what not, then go to the "sound" tab and play the program events at the bottom and see if they work sound wise. If not then ?? Maybe your itunes has a mute setting as well. If not hit google and search for why does my speakers on my model laptop don't work. Usually find some good answers |

| Also, when you get to check the sound settings on the control panel check if the "wave" volume is low or muted. if so, raise the volume or deselect the "mute" option. |

got it! it was the stupid itunes file association tab which never came up til i restarted the system
