| I liked last years set a lot, but I didn't think it was long enough. He was really starting to pick it up in the second half but then it was time to stop...booooooo |

| Bummer. Venue was fine, but the sound was crappy and the set was sub-par. Will likely skip this one. |

'06 Armin @ Brooklyn Bridge=Best time of my life:tongue3
'07 Armin @ McCarren Park=Weakest live Armin set to date:conf:
The truth is a quality outdoor venue in combination with reputable talent such as Armin in addition to good weather, good people, and live performances can still create a great experience despite the sometimes varying set quality from year to year. Last year Armin didnt even really get outta of "fluffy intro mode" til about 8pm with a 10pm cutoff time due to curfews. But even despite this, I had a very good time and fully reccomend the attendance of this event! |

| let's establish that he will be NOTHING like he was at bal en blanc, two completely different people. armin plays to the crowd and when it's 5am at a rave he had to play like he did so the chances of hearing that again are slim to none. i love armin but i have to admit last year at mccaren park kinda blew. the sound was bad and his set wasn't that good. not going to say i 100% won't go but i won't rush to buy tickets. |

well put. Why can't Armin play somewhere at 5AM in NY? :( Canadia has all the luck! |

Mccarren is an abandonded pool in brooklyn. As far as i know they have done pretty much nothing to fix it up. It was designed as a pool and has a large wall in the back that makes the sound crappy compared to anyplace that was designed as a club or concert venue.
Also last year for some reason Armins set was not loud enough, The Beastie Boys in the same venue were twice as loud.
The positive is its nice to be outside in the nice weather in a huge space (bigger than central park shows) not many tall buildings around (although new ones are popping up every day) so you are under the open sky.
There were free parties there every Sunday last year (don't think they will be able to do this again) and this was an appropriate use of the space. But to pay $40 for a show that ends at 10pm sharp and has sub-par acoustics and may not even be loud in a abandonded pool in Brooklyn seems very high. I'll prolly pass by for free listen though. |
