| I did it and it works, the FAN comes on for a few seconds then the ps3 goes back into standby (red light on). |

| I'm gonna go buy a PS3 right now just so I can do this. Ok not really, but it seems everyone on gaming forums is soooo excited they can make their fans spool up fast for a few seconds. I am getting one in June, and mainly for GTA 4 and to play Blue Ray movies. |

Cause Sony does not cover dust problems under warranty and they would rather charge u $150 for u to send it to them, so they can utilize the cleaning function and make a nice profit. Actually, I've done some searching and no one knows why this has come to light this far into release.

I just found this post, so maybe u guys that have a PS3 can verify that it gives the overheating problem?

UNTIL SONY SUPPORTS THE SELF CLEANING GLITCH: This is not Safe for your system: HERE IS WHY
1. Your PS3 fan is designed to whirl up and down as a result of the systems demand for cooling.
2.The 60GigPS3 can also do the same but the process is dangerous, Must hold up system and cover top and bottem vents. AFTER 15 seconds the fans will turn on. There is also a message that your ps3 is overheating. The kid who made that video said clearly that the PS3 is signaling overheating but he doesn't care.
3.Most importanty anyone who has done this on their 40GIG version may remember the three beeps and flashing red light, then the system wont work until its turned off then on. This is a signal of overheating. LOOK AT YOUR MANUAL.
REMEMBER SONY IS A BUSINESS BEFORE IT IS YOUR FREIND. They will have no problem blaming this for any problems with your system in the future. |
