It seems like the "setting a trance and techno mix to trippy videos" thing stopped somewhere back in the mid '90s.
Why?
Are there any remnants of the "altered state of consciousness" idea that was attached to very early trance music?

I find it fun to walk around town listening to goa on my mp3 player. It's quite weird to hear all the trippy noises going on but then to see people and objects totally unaware of what your aural senses are being fed.

I reccomend this when you are extremely dehydrated and its 115 degrees outside... hot weather and triipy music whilst walking thru town? I used to do this walking down 4th AV at teh university of arizona it was trippy.

Yeah way to give yourself a trip while you're on the verge of death.
I heard if you play the "choking game" you can get a pretty wild trip also

I recommend more Ketamine in your diet... complete destruction of consciousness with a single sniff. Can't wait 'til it replaces X as the club drug... it already has in some places.
Sorry, this has nothing to do with music videos. :wtf:

Maybe because Trance / Techno became more popular and events like "Love Parade" and "Sensation" started. Also Eurohouse and Happy Hardcore were very popular, which could be a reason, because MTV also picked that up. Because of that more professional videos were made for television.
Next to that I rather see videos like below :). (Wasn't X-mix-2 it played at MTV Europe at Friday evening or so?)
(Today is the first time I heard from DJ Okidea and I must say I like this track a lot.)
Your second question: early trance imo says it all, EARLY, changes of it then are to be expected. Back then Trance was underground and than automatically the atmosphere is different than something which is popular. (I hope I understood your question, sorry if I didn't)

It's not like there was some huge trend of doing trance and techno mixes to trippy videos. Only Studio K7 was doing it with their X-Mix series, if I remember correctly.
So it would be best to ask them why they stopped, not us.

I think then a lot of questions shouldn't be asked at this forum.......
