So first you must understand that you don't really need a keyboard especially one that is $1,000 dollars you only need software such as cubase, fl studio, ableton live etc. softsynths, sound card, and optionally a midi keyboard. Echo Audiofire2 (Audio Interface) M-audio keyrig 49 (Midi Keyboard Controller) This is basically the cheapest keyboard you can get, of course if you want you can get a nicer one or not even get one at all. Akg 240 (studio headphones) B2031A Truth (studio monitors) These aren't needed at first for producing but if you are serious about it you will need them somewhere down the line. As far as sequencers go for a starter i would say get Reason 4 but this is the topic where you will really need to research. I hope all this helped and gave you an idea of what you will need(Headphones, Audio interface, Midi keyboard, sequencer, monitor.) but before buying this you should really get a better understanding of how a producer produces music. MrJiveBoJingles Actually, long before you get any of that stuff, you should download demos of different sequencers and try to see which one you like the most; then buy that. After that, you should learn thoroughly how to use the synthesizers and samplers in whatever program you get, learn about basic principles of melody and chord progression, and get some hands-on experience by writing a few rough tracks. Then, once you've finished all of that, you should start looking at monitors, professional headphones, audio interfaces, and so on. Yeah, +1 i spent 2 years on and off producing with a just a sequencer before i bought any of those. I still lack a midi keyboard and monitors. PPerenyi i see many different keyboards, what are some of the major differences and how about the company roland are they good?
