| Ok, I just downloaded a video but when I tried to play it on Windows Media Player it said that the format is not supported. I have DivX installed so it's not that codec I need...does anybody have any other popular codecs that might work? It's labeled as a .avi file. |

Right click on the file / Properties / Information
The codec name is often stated there!

.avi files could be
any version of the mpeg4 codec.
Divx
smr
Navi
3ivx
or some early intel codecs also have the .avi like intel indeo video 3,4,5
make sure you have newest divx codecs installed 5.0 came out not long ago.

try the 'Nimo Codec Pack', but don't install the morgan stream switcher thing, it makes your video's play back to front!! :eyes:

| Divx 5 created a new codec that is required for playing divx 5 codecs. You need to use the divx 5 player or a crack divx 5 codec. Either that, or your file just suck! |
