- Every year in the U.S., more than 27 billion animals are slaughtered for food.
- Chickens have their sensitive beaks seared off with a hot blade, and male cattle and pigs are castrated without any painkillers.
- The average American man, woman and child will eat more than 35 animals per year or 2,600 over a 75-year lifetime. This includes: 2,555 chickens and turkeys, 33 pigs, 12 cows.
If you love animals, stop eating them. |
Why? Selective compassion is so much more fun! |

It's different to slowly starve a helpless animal to death, and just watch it happen for fun.
Ya, I feel terrible about how many animals get killed for food, and how they kill them. I wish I could be a vegaterian, but I feel really dizzy if I don't eat meat at least once a week. :( |

It wasn't for fun, it was for art. Who are you to say his work wasn't art? People thought Leonardo's stuff was heresy :O |

Animals taste good, I will not stop eating them. We didn't rise to the top of the food chain to eat carrots.
However, cruelty is cruelty... for no other sense then for a display, I would draw the line there.
For instance, the post above about the starving man, he still has the nessecary MEANS to eat nobody chained him to the bus stop where he makes his sad home. The difference between a starving homelesss man and a dog is the human still has free will.
I remember reading a similar quote from Angelina Jolie. She said, "I will save the tigers, but i'll still eat a steak, its part of my diet." |

I could be too stupid for art (a distinct possibility) but doesn't art come from having too much time on their hands for whatever reason? By that I mean, they no longer have to worry about hunting and gathering or building shelter (survival) every hour of every day? Therefore art is at the very least, a past-time? which is very close to "entertainment", which is very close to "fun"?
Therefore, because this guy doesn't have to worry about survival all the time for whatever reason, he entertains himself by starving dogs (fun), and puts it on display so he can get attention for himself (vanity), and then tries to disguise all this by saying he is "making a statement"?
I could be way off, but I've met a ton of these "shock" artist types and this is the general vibe I get from most of them.
To me, they are worse than these hicks that like to shoot and kill things, but hide behind "we are saving them from starvation" BS. I don't care that you like to shoot guns and kill things, just don't ing lie about it. |

First off, the thing was a hoax, so this is all theoretical.
Second, everyone acts like the dog was held against his will... The dog had food! It was just a foot out of reach. All ANY passer by had to do was nudge the bowl towards the dog. NO ONE did. In fact, there was no one to prevent anyone from doing it! THAT was the point! It wasn't that the artist FORCED the dog to starve... its that every person that saw it ALLOWED him to! THAT was the artwork... the reflection of every passive person that still has the audacity to be appaled at a starving animal rather than doing the humane thing and helping it. Or am I the only one that gets this? Am I the only one that wouldve brought the dog a sammitch?
well... if any of this actually happened, that is. |

Had it actually happened, I'm sure I would've passed on any invitation to go to said art show, probably with a vicious and vulgar rant as I usually do when such an activity is offered. |

Haha, typical answer. It is said that human flesh tastes good too.
Eating meat:
- Hurts/Kills animal
- Is bad for your health
- Is bad for the planet
Wake up people. Quit making lame excuses. |

-I have no problem eating humans if need be.
-Only if you eat it while it's still alive. Killing it may indeed hurt it, not necessarily tho. That's life in the food chain, however. Deal with it.
-Is bad for your health if over done, like anything else.
-Is bad for the planet because it is overdone.
Any real reason why I should STOP eating tasty meat? |
