Moby's Free at Smart Bar
Moby will be making a guest appearance at Smart Bar to perform a DJ set along with Holy Ghost! (erm, that exclamation mark is part of their name, but we are a bit excited.)
Moby has been popping up all over the place, even performing a set with his band at a blogger's birthday party, to promote his newest disc Last Night. So we're unsurprised to hear of this appearance, although we are expecting a small explosion of pandemonium tomorrow, since it's not every day you get to hear Moby spin anymore ... and the chances of seeing him spin in a bar the size of Smart Bar were, until now, infinitesimal.
The show starts tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Good luck on getting in. |

| there's about 200 ppl in line, it goes around the block onto Racine... since I can't stand lines or crowds, I am going home :( they are capping it off at 350. |

10:20 got in line
10:35 get into smartbar
10:40 my friend, who got in line 10 minutes after i did, gets into smartbar
10:45 moby hits the decks
12:15 moby's set ends
free moby promotional poster on the way out. i snagged #238/450
SWEATFEST! played a lot of tunes from his EM plus some old faves. good energy at the beginning. dancefloor space was comfortable enough to dance and thinned out halfway through his set.
glad im home enough early to be functional at work tomorrow =) |

w0w that was a surprise. got there around 1130, waited in front of line for 20 minutes (they capped it at 350!!) walked in, caught 20 minutes of his set.
played the o so overplayed dubfire track , was banging, everyone seemed to love whatever he put on. cries for more EDM in this culture. ended with some hardcore kick that speeded up until 200 bpm when the whole crowd was jumping to it, haha. Moby then did one of those yoga poses of his, stretching his arms while everyone was trying to get a piece of him. pretty funny. closing DJ's probably the worst i've seen all year. place emptied out after that.
glad i went though :p |

hmm sounds like he closed with his old skool ending, his track "Thousand"... was it the beat plus this crazy saw synth stab, repeating over and over?? That track starts at a slow bpm and then goes to 1000 bpm - last time I checked, it was in the Guinness Book as the world's fastest song. |
