Ne-yo is the first multi-platinum non-EDM artist who will base his whole album on Dance, he said he's been working with a House producer. After 2 successful album releases, he stated that he's bored with urban music and wants to explore other genres. He's already produced the first track with the Stargazers, and you can clearly hear the House influence on it.
Ne-yo closer
Even if you hate R&B it's good to see artists experiment outside of the generic 1-2-3 & repeat hip hop beats.

Puffy,Mos Def(with Massive attack) and Madonna.
And does that Robbie Williams collab with Faithless counts?

I'm well aware of the few singles here and there with collabos. What I mean to say is the whole album will be produced and influenced by Dance music. I'm well aware that Stuart Price produced the majority of Madonna's dance influenced album, but she doesn't mean much anymore, that old hag. It's good to see new artists like Ne-yo take a shot at it. I personally like this "closer" track and can't wait to hear the whole album when it's done. It's great to see a chart topping artist "expose" his huge fan base to this sound and hopefully bring more sales and downloads to EDM artists/producers who can use it.

problem with this type of artist is that they are only in it for the money, or the label are anyway..., they will do everything by half measures and end up with a pile of in the end. robbie williams's last album for example. the ones in charge of searching for the producer/rmx'er for an artist like this do not have a real soul for music. they are in it for the money and therefore they will tarnish whatever the artist wants to achieve. r'n'b sucks as far as soul is concerned because there is no proper underground scene. you are either '' or signed to sony and milking all you are worth.

that is absolute
i hope he fails horribly with this endeavor so no other ass clowns like him make albums like this

This just doesn't sound all that great, but it is a start.

Didn't William Orbit produce Madonna's "Ray of Light"? And Le Rythmes Digitales (Stuart Price) "Confessions on A Dancefloor"?
EDM hardly needs mainstream exposure right-now. EDM at times was(and probably still is) quite mainstream and popular, and this fact alone does nothing to increase the quality of music. What EDM needs right now is fresh ideas and inspiration, from the underground or whatever.

sounds okay....maybe it will grow on me....u can mos def tell the house influence in the track.....still RnB to me tho
enydo
Sounds like it'd fit comfortably somewhere on Armin's Imagine. :p

Maybe if there were more tracks like Purple Haze Heaven.

Dance influence in hip hop, r&b, and pop have been prevalent since the 1980s. Artists today keep doing collaborations like this and think they're breaking barriers or revolutionizing something when in reality they're just touching on a subject that's been happening for 20+ years.
