when i click on an mp3 to open it in winamp, my comp just crashes and i have to ctrl alt delete the bastard to get winamp to close. This problem has only recently begun, and i have a feeling it is something to do with the new (well, new to me) winamp v.2.80

so what im after is winamp 2.79 or lower! does anyone have this that i could download from them, or does anyone no a site where u can still get this version? Thanks.

peace:)

I sometimes seem to find that when 'newer' comes out, it gets worse! like the new msn, it looks silly and crap imo, i run 3.5 :D

And winamp, i dont like the way that when u move the slider, it fades in and out the track, so i sitll run 2.73! haha! i always back up old versions, pays off aswel :)

lol :stongue:
just use the 'waveout' as output, instead of the 'crossfading' :D (ctrl+p, plugins > output)

winamp 2.80 has a new feature which checks if the mp3 is truly an mp3 and not a virus. There is a slim possibility your mp3 is a virus and the old winamps open it up and spreads out the virus. I'm guessing viruses in mp3s are very uncommon so you might not have to worry. That might be the reason for the buggy winamp, but I'm going to try other players to give them a chance, but once winamp comes out with a new version, i will get it!

Everything that comes onto my Hdd gets scanned by Trend PC-Cillin followed by Norton 2002. I doubt a virus would make it to winamp without getting detected. I just dont think some of the new features reacted very well with my computer :(
