Ableton will not open anymore

I have a purchased version of Ableton with the latest update (.10).

I installed several VST's from "computer musician" magazine and since then, I've been unable to open Ableton. It gets to the point where it says initializing application and gives me the Mac error "Live quit unexpectedly".

I sent an email to Ableton, but until I hear back I'm paralyzed.

I tried wiping all Ableton files off the system and reinstalling - nothing.

I tried correcting "permission" in Disk Utility (I'm new to Mac, but that is something I read that was recommended from Google) - nothing.

I obviously wiped out all the files I installed from the computer musician programs in the VST folder and AU folder. I checked to make sure nothing was left in the Applications folder and it's gone.

I tried downloading the demo of Ableton 7 - nothing.

I'm not sure what to do at all... this sucks. Any suggestions until I hear back from Ableton?

Found it.

Apparently Melodyne does not work tremendously well with Rewire on Leopard. I downloaded their demo a few days ago before I went out of town and forgot about that... when I installed the other VST's I thought they were creating the problem but it was Melodyne. I removed the rewire files form System/App Support/Propellerhead/Rewire and presto... back in action.

Avoid using their melodyne bridge vst, and it should be fine. Same prob here. Melodyne plug-in itself works well though.

Thx. I'll give it a shot without the VST bridge... I began to think that the demo wasn't all that compelling to purchase after this. But let me give this a shot and I'll go from there. Appreciate the feedback.
