I was given a tip that the minor pentatonic scale works really good for trance bass. For my song I am trying to use the D minor pentatonic scale. Which uses the white notes, D-F-G-A-C-D.
If it was a D major scale I would have no problem writing a chord progression, using a mixture of I,IV, and V chords intermixed with minors etc. However since this pentatonic thing has me confused. I dont even know where to start. I cant figure out which chords to play to back up this scale.
I tried using minor chords but some of them use sharps and flats, which are not included in the D minor pent scale so I dont know what to do. Unless it doesnt matter that the sharps and flats are in the scale?
Any help would be great. |

a scale isn't a set of boundries its a skelton, many songs dip out of scale for a note here or there; also maybe you don't need full 3 note chords but some simple 2 note powers or alternate between 3 notes if the y fit in the scale and 2 note if the tonic is missing or dominant etc |
